    DEDICATION

I am a person who prefers giving less ‘traditional’ gifts. Anyone can go to the mall and buy a gift. Not many people will take the time or make the effort to give something truly special. That’s not to say, that ‘traditional’ gifts are any less special, it’s just that I like giving gifts of a different kind. I like giving something that’ll mean a lot more to the person or people receiving my gifts.

I dedicate this book to my very dear and special friend, Coco, who helped me ‘find’ and face myself and my very scary shadows. Coco helped me find and free my voice too, which I’m so grateful for! Coco through her words and actions towards me changed how I view myself. She changed my previous opinion of ‘nothingness’ and utter ‘worthlessness’ to the complete opposite. Coco is the only one able to ‘get through’ to me, to show me that it’s ‘okay’ to share all I am and have to give, with others. This book wouldn’t have expressed so many extremely personal thoughts, feelings and ideas (most of which, I have never shared with anyone else before), if it were not for her.

Coco, you have given me so much, I couldn’t even begin to express just how much and what! You have given me truly special gifts! Gifts, I will always treasure!

You fill my vase, past full!

    THANK YOU!

It’s to you my special friend, that I give these few heartfelt words! They are my gift to you! I will always love and remember you! You will forever stay with me!

    ~xXx~

    Yours, infinitely and always!

    BEFORE WE BEGIN

Before we begin in earnest, I have a few things to say. Firstly, The Light is a sequel. It follows closely after my first work of art, Pandora Undone. What I failed to write about in my first book has been written and placed in my second book. The Light, talks more about my illnesses and all the challenges I’ve faced up until now. It speaks of my unconditional love and of my appreciation of the love of my life. It’s an autobiography which is beautifully written with hopes to inspire others. I hope it will shed a little more light on the subject of ‘mental health’ and ultimately rid the world of some of its stigmatic beliefs, and of some of its harmful labels too.

I decided to write a sequel because one book aimed at my beautiful Coco is not enough. There is also so much I left out of Pandora Undone. I also had a lot more I wanted to give back to the community which has given so much to me! I was so lost! It’s a miracle that I’m finally and fully awake and have been rescued from the darkness that had surrounded me. I cannot express my gratitude, words are insufficient! I’m lucky to be alive to tell you the honest truth! In The Light I want to continue my journal entries. I want to continue sharing my story and tell you about some of my darker times and share with you just how fortunate I was to find Coco. She lights up my life like no other person can and without her I wouldn’t be here at all. I wouldn’t want to be here without her either. She is my Heaven and she is my home! She is brighter and more magnificent than the sun in our sky. She is more beautiful than the super moon. Love is such a puny word used to describe my feelings for her. The word love is so insignificant when its used to describe how I feel about my Coco. I could pick anyone in this world to love, but I choose her. That’s how freaking special she is to me! She is the ONLY one I want to love and have love me back. She is the most beautiful girl in the world. I only wish she’d open her eyes to her indescribable beauty. One day, maybe?

    John: 1

"In the beginning was the Word,

and the Word was with God,

    and the Word was God."

    ~ NIV Bible

    THE POWER OF WORDS

For you to fully understand where I want to go with this book and for you to fully appreciate this book, you need to understand one thing; why I love words.

Writing is the visual counterpart of speech. The drawing of pictures and markings are examples of writing; both are natural ways of communication. I find it so amazing how words strung together in sentences, sentences into paragraphs; then, become stories… which create a picture… all of their own. Those pictures created then illicit a response from the reader. Written words have the power to illustrate that which cannot be said aloud. Similarly, spoken words have the power to tell a story that cannot be written. Words are used to communicate a person’s thoughts, feelings and ideas. They are used to tell stories, whether they are based on fact or fiction. They hint at ‘the bigger picture’. They hint at the ‘design’ of life and everything in it. Words are not enough, on their own!

In order to give words ‘power’, firstly we have to trust in or believe the source. Secondly, as with anything else in life we need to believe in the words themselves. We have to believe that there is some truth to, or hidden meaning behind them. We need to have faith! You need to believe, you need to trust me and my words in order to give my words power. You need to see the ‘design’ behind them. That ‘design’, is that words if believed, have the power to provoke emotions and actions, both good and bad. Words, whether written, said or sung have the power to destroy, as well as re-build. They have the power to amaze and shock. They have the power to incite fear or rage. They have the power to confuse, as well as bring about understanding. They have the power to hurt. They also have the power to mislead. Words have the power to soothe or bring about a sense of peace, well-being and happiness. They have the power to enlighten and encourage. Words have the power to empower. They have the power to change a life (or lives). Words, both good and bad, ‘saved my life’. They have changed me, for the better.

    FOR MY COCO

    Coco,

You could give me the most beautiful girl in the world,

    At her best,

And I would still choose you,

    At your worst.

I’m happiest when I’m with you,

You’re my entire dream come true.

You fill my soul better than anyone I know,

I want you and only you.

You’re all I’ve ever dreamt of,

    I belong to you.

    You make me feel alive,

And more beautiful than I could have ever imagined.

My thoughts of you drive me crazy,

And you fill my heart with pure unadulterated love.

You’re in everything I see, say and do,

    You are my truest reflection,

    You’re my truest friend,

And that’s why I can never let you go.

Coco, words will never express truly or adequately what you’ve unwittingly done for me since our initial meeting. You found and rescued me without any
