About this ebook

Dark Hearts is the collection of poetry written by Surreal and coauthor DVine Pen. Inspiration for Dark Hearts comes from the commitment to past relationships, which ended with the loss of love and ended in pain. Each poem is the embodiment of those relationships and the hardships of each one.

The written words of Dark Hearts literally bleed the feelings and emotions experienced over the years. This book was written to remove the shadows and shed light on feelings locked away inside. Conversing through ink and paper, Dark Hearts will surely identify with each reader and captivate fans.

Surreal

Author Surreal (Frederick James Lee) and coauthor D’Vine Pen (Dela Sean Morgan) first met through a series of charitable and social events. The two writers later learned of each other’s passion for poetry and instantly knew their friendship would be a long and lasting one. To their pleasure, the two writers began sharing stories and copies of their work. They spent countless hours describing their emotional hardships in what can only be said to have been relationships from hell. While the desire to share their written work consumed both writers, their fear of opening up past wounds to the world would only mean rekindling emotions and feelings long laid to rest. Both writers, still considered newlyweds in their marriages, pondered the impact on their new lives and those in it. Each one asked the question, “What will happen if I open this door?” With confidence and a sense of purpose, Surreal, the author of Forever My Lady, spoke with D’Vine Pen about joining him on a joint project. After strong consideration, D’Vine Pen agreed to the project. It was then that they gave birth to the poem and title for this book, Dark Hearts. This book was written with every reader in mind who has gone through a difficult marriage, hard times dealing with a boyfriend or girlfriend, or someone who has been mentally or physically abused. We open ourselves up to you. Join us on this journey, and explore our pleasures and pain through the poetry we share with you. Signed, Surreal and D’Vine Pen.

    About the Author

    Dark Hearts

Up from the blood and pain of loving you

Caught up in what I assumed was the best of you

Now that the masquerade is over, unmasked and I don’t recognize you

Tormented through countless hours of loving you

After turning away the rest of the world and focusing on only you

Darkness is what you’ve shown me

Finding myself blinded by games and what love will do to you

Making myself so obsolete and caught up on the moment of pleasing you

Yet, no one was pleasing me

To late when I realized my world revolved around you

Finding myself frustrated, my soul still tormented since I departed from you

Days and nights no longer hold meaning to me

My mind so hazy, tears make not only my vision, but my mind blurry

No clue deception would end this eternity

Head to high in the clouds to see this coming

Your representative is who I grew to love endlessly

The imposter had me to believe you actually loved me

What a harsh dose of reality

Yet there was no set or T.V. crew to rewrite this catastrophe

The aftermath of a courtship blown away (Katrina)

Blood stained memories and blood soaked sheets

Visions appear giving way to embodiment upon which you see

    Tormented and beaten

Leaving behind reminisce of a fool

    Holding onto only this
