It has been said if you want to have friends then one must be a friend to others, henceforth I have dedicated several poems in this book to a few special folks who continue to support my writing efforts for indeed I treasure their friendship.
With that being said, this book is dedicated in its entirety to my first cousin, Mrs. Ivy E. Ivey who has been a friend to me all of my life. We’ve come a long way from our humble beginnings as two little girls growing up together on Second Street in St. Rose, La. I will always be grateful for your friendship.
So how about you? Stop and think about the people who are special in your life. Take the time to let them know now because tomorrow is NOT promised. Who knows? You may not get another chance to tell them so make today that day or at least you should try, as tomorrow will become Today IN THE SWEET BY AND BYE….
ALWAYS,
INGRID GREEN ADAMS

PART ONE
The Bitter
Why Blame It On The Rain?
1.jpgWhy blame it on the rain? Oh yah, it is true,
While all we see is rain but we know what we need to do,
Yah, of course, this rain will stop when our God wants it to,
But we hold the answer to stopping that rain, yah, we have the clue,
Because God has told us time and time again,
Asked us when will we listen to him and just give in?
All he wants us to do is to serve him and trust him, yes, just obey,
But do we do it? NO! We just keep looking the other way.
That’s right, and keep complaining while things just get worst you see,
Life could be easy if we would just let it be.
Listen up people; I’m tired of all this rain and misery too,
Plain fed up with all the killing, lying, cheating, and other things we love to do,
Until we stop all our senseless acts we’ll see more rain yah know,
It’s like a cancer in your body, as it spreads and begins to grow.
Yah, gets all over so fast and oh so quick,
We need God to fix us, not some man made trick,
Let’s stop right now, let’s learn to get along,
I’m simply tired of singing the same sad song,
Rain, Rain, go away, come back some other day,
That day is here, and that day is now,
We can get rid of the rain, let me show you how.
Stop all this hatred and all our evil ways,
Let’s start to live right for the rest of our days,
Then and only then will we take God seriously,
Because that’s the way I’ve always heard it should be,
So why blame it on the rain? Just stop for a moment, don’t complain,
Because you know who knows rightfully the blame,
Well, that’s easy to see, the blame my friend belongs to you and to me!
The Sins Of A Father
1.jpgWe must be careful in life in everything we say and do,
So that the sins of a father may not fall on you,
That’s right, do you believe in karma? Well, I never gave it much thought back in the day,
Till I would grow up and experience some perils in life so now I can say,
There is some truth in this thing called karma you know,
Because I’ve experienced the after effects of my father so,
That’s how oh yes, that’s how I can tell you,
About the sins of a father, yes, his sins have been revealed too.
You may say how do I know this? How can this be true?
Well, let me tell you, it’s plain to see in some of the things I have come to do.
Yes, some of the decisions I’ve made in my life you see,
Are the proof of the sins of my father, oh yes siree’.
That’s why we must be sure about the things we do and say,
Because if they are not of God’s will your offspring will suffer because you did not obey.
That’s right, because you chose to live life without any care,
You have left your offspring to grow on a wing and a prayer,
Always searching for the right way to go,
Never knowing why things are all mixed up and confused so,
I’ve decided to end this generational curse you see,
That’s right, I’ll take my punishment, but this karma will end with me.
No longer will I miss out on God’s blessings, no I won’t,
Because I’ve learned the hard way and now I know I just can’t so I don’t.
I can’t live my life without thinking of others, it’s true,
That my actions in life, well, they’ll have an effect on everything that you do,
Because you are my offspring, yes, truly seed of my seed,
So I had better get it together, stay focused, oh yes child, I’d better indeed,
Before you get confused and mixed up the very same way
That I did and like my father did, yes back
