    Introduction

What’s in a word? Have you ever thought about this?

I think most of us simply take them for granted.

I challenge you to take a moment to meditate on the poems in this book dedicated to

Certain words we use in our everyday lives.

Hopefully after reading these selections you will gain an appreciation for these everyday terms.

May you live happily ever after once upon a word.

    HAPPY READING!!!

    Rain and Reign

    What Is Rain?

As I responded to a text message that I received,

I looked out of my window and could hardly believe,

No, not again, it’s nothing but rain you see,

    What is rain?

    What is rain to me?

Rain is merely liquid sun shine moving down the line you know,

For we need it, makes our flowers and our trees grow,

Folks need it, yes, we need it too,

Because it slows us down, sometimes makes us think things through.

We are a people, who rush around in a hurry all day long,

Sometimes never thinking things through, often singing the wrong song,

Sometimes only growing bitter, angry, and sometimes so blue,

Can I stop right now and tell you what you need to do?

And that’s to give the rain a chance you see,

Because after it’s all over a rainbow awaits thee.

Yes, those of us who just keep moving along our way,

Keeping it real with God, yah, we know just what to say,

Rain is good, makes you let your feelings out,

Makes you mad, sad, sometimes it makes you want to shout.

Anyways, whatever it is go on and do your thing,

And if it’s not of God you’ll reap the terrors that you bring,

So take my advice, just grin and bear it will you please?

Thank God for his liquid sunshine when you pray on bended knees.

As for me what is rain? Well, I just told you,

Consider it liquid sunshine; your faith in God will see you through.

His Reign Is Not The Same

His reign is not the same, oh no, it’s very different you see,

His reign is not the same, oh no, he wasn’t elected to an office by you or me.

No, no way, we simply had nothing to do with this, nah, that’s true,

His reign, yes his claim to power came from God his father who,

Looked down on us, his creation and said oh no, such despair,

But I am so touched by their helplessness so my Son I will spare,

Yes, I will allow him to be more flesh of their flesh, yes, and I will allow him to live as they do,

Yes, he allowed him to experience everyday life in a human body like

Like the one he created for me and you.

That’s right; Jesus was born, the only begotten Son, who came into this world to save me,

So why is it that only on Christmas praising him is where we want to be?

No people, we truly, yes truly, we clearly have it all wrong,

Our Jesus came to save us not just on Christmas, not just as we sing a Christmas song.

No, he is alive and well today, yes, and every day, that’s how he’ll always be,

But there’s just one problem here, we have to decide to accept the gift of his birth, can’t you see?

Jesus is the best gift, that’s right, and he is the giver of life,

It’s because of him we can face any and all trouble, toil, and strife.

So again I attempt to explain oh no, he’s not one in the same,

Just because we elect men to positions of great power and may give them a fancy name.

Our Lord Jesus is not on their level, oh no, no way, definitely not,

He’s the one, yes, the chosen One, oh honey, come see what he’s got.

He’s got nothing but peace and happiness in store for you,

But that peace and happiness has to become a part of everything you do.

See there’s nothing we have to do to earn salvation, it’s truly free,

But there’s one catch, we must love others for all eternity.

That’s why His reign is not the same, oh no, and do you know why?

His reign demands that you search deep inside your heart and may be even cry,

Because he’s not searching for material things, no, definitely not popularity,

No, he knows he won’t be accepted definitely rejected by you and by me.

He knows that we try to live right, but always get tempted and then we turn away,

That’s why no one else can reign and rule like he can; no one else has the authority to stay,

And fight to save a people, who simply don’t ever want to acknowledge that he truly reigns,

No people just want to keep thinking they have all the intelligence, yes; they have all the brains,

But if you sit back on a rainy day and think for a minute or two,

Just as that rain falls down from the sky you know what you should do?

You should fall down on your knees, oh yes, even in the pouring rain,

And just thank the Lord above for your life, that’s right, no, don’t even complain.

It is because of him who reigns that you merely exist, oh don’t you see?

Because without him and his reign all alone in this rain we’ll have much confusion and misery,

It’s because of him and his reign this rain we feel is only liquid sunshine you see,

For if we live right, and love right, and then all will be right, because in heaven this rain will never be.
