Introduction

The first poem that I wrote was in my mini-van on the way home from Dallas to Sherman in 1995. I prayed and asked God to give me an idea for a welcome home gift for my brother. I wanted it to be a gift that wouldn’t get shoved to the back of the shelf or drawer. I wanted it to be special. Then, all of a sudden, words just started coming to my mind. I started grabbing napkins, scraps of paper, whatever I could find to write on. The first poem New Beginnings was finished by the time I got home.
