From The Barrel Of A Gun

Keep them safe from the rising of the sun,

Keep them safe from the barrel of a gun.

Yes it’s me again Lord,

Praying and praying again although I find it hard,

Because week after week we are losing so much and so many,

Of our youthful Black males, why haven’t they received any?

That’s right, yes, justice. Why hasn’t any justice been displayed their way?

They’ve only been falsely accused because of what others had to say.

So where does that leave us? Now Lord tell me please,

Yes please do Lord because we already stay on bended knees,

Praying and thanking you for the little we have been given,

Till we have become so content without much just barely makin’ a livin’,

But some how we make it, oh yes, we seem to always make it through,

And I know as a race all of the credit is owed to you.

So c’mon dear Lord I need you right now,

We’ve got to get some closure on this problem some how,

Yes what has happened to all of the love shared in our families?

What has happened to us as a people? Have we forgotten all of our

Past memories,

Of our forefathers fighting for what was truly over from the start?

While nowadays we have become many many miles apart,

From what we believed in from what we were taught at home,

Back in the day the thought of looking from the barrel of a gun alone,

Was unheard of, yes, it was, oh yes it truly was back then,

Because times were tough and we learned to stick together when

Ever we saw or heard that a brother needed help it is true,

But nowadays we turn that barrel of a gun around on our brother that’s what we do.

I know it’s rough out here and yes today’s life is no joke,

But it’s also no time to sit back and laugh and choke,

While all of our babies are finding themselves front and center from

The barrel of a gun,

I think I have the answer to our problem, yah, I think I can recommend

An answer my son,

We’ve simply got to be our brother’s keeper, oh yes; we need to do this again,

Just like we did in the past, yah, as we fought for our honor as men,

But this time we must work smarter and not harder that’s what we must do,

We must pray to our Almighty God and continue until we get our breakthrough,

Because prayer, yes prayer can certainly turn things around,

Yes first let’s start praying in our homes again where our children can be found

Once they see we are serious about our situation then they will be as well,

We’ve got to try it so let’s start today c’mon and sit a spell.

We as a people can go here and over everywhere,

But never stop to take the time to gather for a simple prayer.

I tell you praying is the answer it’s truly the healing that we need,

Yes praying is the doctor’s recipe; it’s God’s instructions, yes indeed,

So before your son or husband or loved one is in fear from the barrel of a gun,

Please take the time now to do whatever it takes in order to save them son.

Do whatever it takes to educate them well,

Do what we did in the past until we were given the rights to ring

The freedom bell,

And that my friend is what I think we really need,

So I’ve decided it’s what we will do, yes, seed of my seed,

Until my father God comes down and takes me away,

I want to provide the best of care for mine so from the barrel of a gun they will stay.

Peace Of Mind

He is truly smart if he can find,

The greatest healer of pain known as peace of mind.

Yes you see we as a people search here and there,

Looking for the answer, yes, just any and everywhere,

While never stopping to think about the little things,

For we have learned it’s the simple pleasures in life that brings,

All the happiness we search to find,

While still lying in darkness with no peace of mind.

The time is now to get it right my friend,

For I am sure we will never travel this way again,

So make it count, yes. Make it count, yes, what you do and say,

Please make it count or you’ll feel the pain of regret everyday,

And no one truly wants to experience the feelings of regret,

For it’s those feelings that have caused many a man to bet,

His bottom dollar on the things he refused to say,

Oh but now in his last hour on his dying day,

How he wished he could change things oh yes now he sees,

Just how the concept of peace of mind truly, truly frees,

One’s heart, soul, and one’s body, oh yes, it is true,

So let’s not wait my friend until it’s too late for you.

Accept true healing in this life while you have the time,

Live a life based on true values that will give you a peace of mind,

That surpasses all understanding that’s what you do,

Turn everything over to the Lord that’s what I’m telling you,

If you just say yes and surrender your life over to him,

But see that’s the problem, that’s where all of our troubles stem.

Oh yes, that’s it because we feel like we can handle any and everything,

But let me tell you the last time I talked to my Jesus He was still ruler

And King,

So you’d better get your mind right, yes, I think you really should,

If you want to be successful in this life you should think only of the good,

You can do to help others as you pass along their way,

Because in the end my friend there just won’t be any words to say.

Yes like hey I am sorry but there’s no place up in heaven for you,

Based on the way you treated God’s people when you came sailing through,

Many happy days with lots of money, possessions and such,

But I promise you up in heaven these things won’t mean much,

So stop being selfish and get the closure that you will need,

Embrace yourself in the healing power of peace of mind, do it for your seed,

If not for your self think of your children won’t you?

Think of the legacy you are leaving behind that’s what you do.

Let them experience your happy ending with peace of mind,

Don’t wait until it’s too late my friend because then there won’t be time.

Show them now how to live and love and how to laugh again,

When all around you only trouble starts to creep in.

Don’t panic oh don’t worry, you won’t have a problem, trust me,

If you have your business fixed with the Lord your trouble will flee,

And talk about some peace, oh girl, what a peace to feel,

Knowing that your soul is safe because you’ve invested in what is real,

Knowing that you’ve found the healing everyone is truly looking for,

So that my friend is the advice I have to offer yes, that’s what’s in store,

For me and you and for you and for all those who invest in the feeling,

Of trusting in God for true peace of mind that no one on earth can think

About stealing.

There’s No Place Like Home

There’s no place like home, no, it just can’t be,

There’s no place like home, are you kidding me?

Because my home is my safe haven my place I have peace,

When times are rough or too tough just to say the least,

I know I can always come on home when I’m feeling,

Like all is lost in the world, oh the happiness folks be stealing,

When all you want to do is to make it back to your own space,

Because there you’ll find the healing you need all over
