    Rulers for Measurement Comparison

    Starting at left reading to right measures continue increasing to larger.

    Numbers 0 to 6 on a 16th inch ruler have 5 line lengths short to longest.

    Starting at 0 there are 16 lines counted to 1 inch.

    From 0 to the next and shortest line is 1/16 of an inch, count each line.

    Next each size length 0 to I is lISth of an inch, all counted total S at 1 inch.

    Next each size length 0 to I is 1I4th of an inch, all counted total 4 at I inch.

    Next each size length 0 to I is Yz of an inch, all cowlted total 2 at one inch.

    1/16, 1/8, 1/4, ½ to 1 and within each inch. After 1 inch at longest line

    read I and 1116 or 1 1/16, to increase place each number.

    Different needs require some measurement for consistent results. Some

    examples for food measurement are given. Reasonable portion size,

    keeping sliced food intact, enhancing flavor and savor, presentation,

    easier chewing to digest, preparation, arrangement and time management.

    Butter in the U.S.A. is sold in one pound boxes, each box containing 4 sticks.

    Decimals:

    0.25 = ¼

    0.33 = 1/3

    0.50 = ½

    0.66 = 2/3

    0.75 = ¾.

    Pound, cups, tablespoons and teaspoon conversions assume the base weight-volume of water.

    1 pound = 2 cups

    1 ounce = 2 tablespoons

    1 tablespoon = 3 teaspoons = 0.5 oz = 15 grams

    1 teaspoon = 0.17 oz = 5 grams

    pinch is less than 1/8 teaspoon

    dl = deciliter = 1/10 of a liter = ½ cup.

    Weight-volume of:

    Flour: 1 pound = 3 ½ cups

    Sugar: 1 pound = 2 ¼ cups
