Scottish cooking is about so much more than haggis. The hills and lowlands are rich in venison, game birds and Angus beef, which often feature in Scottish dishes. The lochs are full of fish and the coastline is a treasure trove of crustaceans and more fish varieties, so seafood is often on the menu. Nourishing root crops like potatoes and turnips feature regularly, while oats are a staple and used in many ways. Delicious and nourishing soups and broths are also prominent. These recipes offer a healthy and accessible way to bring the warming comfort of Scottish cuisine into your home. Try putting yourself in the Highlands with our: saffron porridge with apple; vegetarian cottage pie; cranachan; and Black Angus and whiskey stew.
