Broken Hearts Make Beautiful Words: Poetry That Touches the Heart
()
About this ebook
Danelle Simpson
Danelle Simpson was raised in Kennewick, WA. She graduated from Kennewick High. She spent a lot of her childhood with her grandparents, B.E. and Happy Pickrell. They taught her to be kind hearted and to help those who cannot help themselves. While both are great qualities to possess, they tend to leave the individual more inclined to suffer from heart break and disappointment far easier than someone who is hard hearted. However, possessing such compassion gives the author inspiration to write the poetry that she has. She wrote this book during the times in her life that she has felt the most alone, and until recently, kept most of it hidden. The poems within this book are not about one particular person or event, while reading them it is very hard to tell. As she states, it takes a lot of pain to make you feel broken.

Acknowledgements
To Vicky Jill—You are my Duct tape. You have helped hold me together, and I will always love you for that.
Thank you, for believing in me.
To SB – I’m sorry, thank you for your support through this process, and for continuing to be a friend.
To Kari—Thank you for being a kindred spirit who kicked me in
the rear when I needed it most, you saved me. Growing up, I
wish that I had had a mother like you to keep me in line.
Your family is lucky—even if they don’t know it.
And to the others, as there are many—Thank you for the inspiration, the support, the patience and to some of you, thank you for the
pain, because after all—it took a broken heart to make
these beautiful words.
And a special thanks to Geppetto
& Jiminy
—You have both helped
to make me into who I am now, each in your own way. Thank you
for being there and taking the time to talk it out when I needed it
most, and not allowing me close everyone out when I tried to.
You know who you are—and that is what matters to me.
Introduction
My name is Danelle Simpson. I have been writing poetry most of my life, however, until quite recently I haven’t really shown it to very many people. In fact, most of the people that know me currently didn’t even know that I wrote poetry. My daughter, Vicky Jill, encouraged me to submit this book of poetry because she loved them so much. Writing poetry is my way of handling different situations in my life, it is my outlet. I tend to hide my feelings to the point that most people thought my life was pretty much perfect. Welcome to my glass house. The poems included in this book were written on a very personal level, but they seem to mirror a lot of lives. I hope that you find these helpful
