Renaissance
Dear Lover,
This is a tribute to the journey of loving myself—the dawning of the new me.
The knowledge I need to finish my Letter to my Lover makes me feel sick. The journey to self-love is a roller-coaster. Words written months ago now don’t feel right. I’m on the roller-coaster’s downward slide, knowing the upward thrill will come, but I feel nauseous at the concept of fully sitting in, loving and accepting me. Honesty with you, the reader, seems important for the reason a glint of recognition might come your way. There is no upward thrill without the corresponding slide downward, and it feels important to acknowledge this. If realisation is your takeaway from my words, then my job is done.
So, to my words from months before …
A renaissance occurs within—a stirring deep in my soul, womb space, and heart. A homecoming. It’s a strange thing called self-love. Strange to me, at least. A concept that was unknown to me four years ago. Foreign land never traversed before. A desert never crossed. The unknown, wild woods never explored. The path never travelled. Virgin territory, unblemished by any mark or footprints. Barren land, a place of nothing except dry aridness.
You get the idea, I’m sure!
The renaissance began in a hall in Upwey. A place of community, a place of loving support among a circle of women forever imprinted on my heart. It was a time in the week that I was alone, which was a huge deal for me. A turbulent household,
