This is my interpretation of the people I have met, places Ive been, and things Ive witnessed. This is my explanation of everything that resonates with me. This is the pain and love I have felt. This has been my therapy, my art, my escape, and my embrace. These are my thoughts and feelings written over the last two years but felt my entire life. This is me coming to terms with things I once deemed unforgivable. This is me sharing the hope I have found. These pages arent organized into chapters because I dont feel as though my life has chapters I can clearly define right now. Sometimes, I am growing in one area and struggling in another, which is why you find poems full of destruction right next to the most hopeful words Ive written. This is how my mind works. This is the beating of my heart in black and white.

Thank you, God, for answering the prayer I have prayed since I met you- the prayer that You would use me. My request to have the ability to tell my story and share my hope. The prayer to see Your hand in every part of my life. I have asked You why so many times, so many experiences I never understood while they were taking place, I get it now. You have used all the broken parts of me to create something. I ask You Lord to continue to work in me and bless those who take their time to hear my story and thoughts, let them see You. Show them Your glory the way You’ve shown me. I cannot thank you enough for showing me the way and making me brave in times where I felt as though I couldn’t be weaker. I owe it all to You.

This is my heart and soul poured out in hopes that my hurt can help you with yours.

dedication to the broken hearted, the warriors, the dreamers, the ambitious, the lovers-those I know intimately and not at all, thank you for being you, thank you for never giving up. You make a difference.

My big sister, Megan for knowing all of my weaknesses better than anyone and still believing in me. Thank you for encouraging me to write about my deepest pains.

My big brother, Bobby, for always doing your best to protect from the evil in the world. Thank you for teaching me how to be brave.

My best friend, Abigail, for constantly reminding me of the hope found in Jesus. Thank you for caring about others more than yourself and speaking the truth no matter what the cost.

My baby sister, MaceyJo, for a kind heart and beautiful smile. You encourage me more than you will ever know, thank you for loving me. You make me strong.
