About this ebook

Imagine being a young girl, going through so many struggles of life and the people around you, though they can hear you crying, they aren't actually listening to your pain. The weight of these struggles now become so heavy that you have to let it out. As a young girl, the writer found her gift in writing by just venting her thoughts on paper. It seemed easier to whisper to a blank page through ink than it it was to talk to people who never took the time to listen. By doing this, the writer wrote many different poems of emotions. These are only a few of the poetic works of Floretta Hector.

Mom, you told me to go for it and that’s what I am doing. Going for it. Thank you. I love you!

Aunty Ayana, the very first person who ever believed in my writing abilities. Because of you reading my journals and hyping me up when you would visit, I finally came out of my shell. Thank you for being my very first fan. I love you!

Eccedentesiast. Sometimes dealing with something is much harder than pretending that it does not affect you. We try to hide behind our emotions and use the words, I’m fine, but that no longer works when people ask if you are okay. Growing up I have always heard; actions speak louder than words. However, we often look at people’s body language to determine whether the words they speak are a true reflection of the emotions they portray. Then you have the eccedentesiast. Eccedentesiasts are great at hiding their pain behind their smile. They are the illusionists. The Emotional Houdini’s of the world.

These poems portray only a small section of the mind of an eccedentesiast dealing with the struggles of life; molestation, rape, relationships, loss of loved ones, etc. Now this isn’t a documentary of the things that I have gone through in my life. Nonetheless, this book is a collection of poems depicting a fraction of the thoughts of people who are going through these events. Whilst the world is asleep at 2 a.m., often times an eccedentesiast is awake dealing with their pain, hurt, and/or sadness, preparing for
