Allow Me to Introduce Myself - Helen Harris
Allow Me to
Introduce Myself
I speak in rhyme and rhythm,
most poets relate this way.
I feel with deep emotions.
I tend to rock and sway.
My thoughts are seldom an action,
I tend to feed off the crowd.
My love is always reaction,
to the actions of those not proud.
My life is never my own.
To most people I’m never sad.
I tend to stare in wonderment,
at those who’ve never had.
Forgive me for my boldness,
this I must always say.
Yet I call it like I see it,
the results of the fray.
A Friend To
Your Heart
When distress comes to you
and it causes fear
Don’t morn your hope
your heart’s friend is here.
As true as the sun
is to the earth
your heart’s friend is here
as true as your birth.
You give of yourself
to others who plead
and you never ask
though you have a need
Please come to me dear
your heart I will feed
I’m a friend to your heart
I will tend to your needs.
To my friend;
Daniel, in honor of his love for all whom he meet.
He is one of the reasons God sent his son.
I will always be his friend
A Heart In A
Grave of Blue
These words that I send to you
are true and are sincere.
They come forth from my heart,
you give birth to my fear.
And though I brought you forth,
a true deliberate act,
my heart yearns and wishes,
that it could take you back.
My eyes look upon you
and turn inward from pain.
My ears when they hear you
burn in thunderous flames.
Even within my dreams,
to my life you’ve brought gloom.
How I’ve wished that your grave
would have been my scorned womb.
You’ve question my virtue,
with your disgraceful acts.
You’ve put me on display,
not using any tact.
You have cast untrue words,
while you shed your false tears.
You’ve muddied an ocean,
that once was very clear.
You’ve taken a people
that don’t know you exist.
Their beauty and their love
is what you can’t possess.
You have said that you need
and your children as well,
protection from my heart.
I’ll love you past your hell.
And know that as for me,
I need love just like you.
Yet you’ve placed, my brown eyes,
into a grave of blue.

Of A Heart
I can feel the needs of your heart
and I say to you don’t despair
I too once held fear in my heart
and thought that no one cared.
When in the dark lives emptiness
and the bed is a lonely place
then loss is what is in your heart
your mouth no joy can taste
Please do come to me my dear friend
and I will show you hope anew
I will help you see life’s bounty
belonging to few.
I have tasted
