    The story

    CHAPTER 1

    Bang!  Thump.  Thump.  Clatter.

    The grocery cart came to a sudden stop as she rounded the corner of the aisle.  The fact that it hit something else was momentarily lost on her as the handles of the cart pushed into her stomach stopping her momentum.

    ugh she said involuntarily as the air was pushed out of her stomach.  That had hurt.  She took a deep breath and turned her head to look at the situation in front of her.

    Her cart had collided with another cart.  Both had been turning the corner at the same time from opposite directions and both being pushed by, apparently, preoccupied shoppers.  In spite of the dulling pain in her stomach, she wasn’t angry but she did want to see who she collided with. 

    It was about eight O clock on a Saturday night, and by all accounts there shouldn’t have been hardly anyone else in the store.  Who shops for groceries on
