Home at Last
THE DAY FINALLY CAME for Charlie. After all the allegations. All the arrests and hardships he finally served his time in the jailhouse. The 6 year sentence seemed so much longer. But relief overcame Charlie as he was ready to put away his old ways to have another chance with life and his family.
He walked with confidence as the officers escorted him to his vehicle. And even as inmates were doing all they could to discourage him by jeering he knew that a new leaf was ready to turn. And walking out the front door made him feel even more confident than ever. The sun’s rays gave him the sweet taste of freedom- a new opportunity waiting to happen.
The first thing that came to mind was of course family, as he was only able to talk to them from time to time. Mom was doing all right from the last time they talked... and Dad was his usual self as he was never too happy to see Charlie but always wished him the best. Ashley never got along too well with Charlie so her attitude was always different. From sympathy for his misdemeanors to distrust and misery. It was always a roller coaster of emotions for her as she never knew her big brother, even when they were children.
