    Eddy’s Ballad

    HE SAT ALONE. ANOTHER late night with the desk lamp on. His fingers tapping the pen. And the pen moving about in a reckless manner.

    Eddy ‘Jack’ Harold couldn’t get the lyrics he wanted for the song. It was clear to him a few hours ago. Now only fragments remain in his notebook.

    Everyone says I can become a star if I can get that song out, Eddy reminded himself.

    You might even make it big one day!

    Don’t give up on your dreams!

    They’ll love it!

    But it was getting harder every day. His rent was due in a few days, and he still hasn’t paid off for his guitar.

    His day job didn’t help- there were recent cut backs on hours. About $60 less than what he did make at the office. He recently moved to part time to work on his songs. And it looks like it backfired.

    He kept telling himself to hold it together. He knew it was starting to fall apart.

    Come on- I can do this.

    Yet he ended up dozing off again. The next thing he knew he was up the next day in the afternoon.

    He almost didn’t make it to work, and the work day dragged on. So much he was thinking of calling it a day. But he was somehow able to get through it all.
