About this ebook

The megalomaniac monk attacks! The girldians with mystic powers stand up to save the world from the impending peril ... Wait. Is there magic in Towerld, which is supposed to be real and realistic?

The theatrical play goes on, to entertain the dwellers of the barrier-free spiral slope (especially kids) and solidify the sense of communal unity. Hector_1304 (replacing the runaway actor), Wendy, and the Wild Cards work for the Barrier-free Big Top, and stumble upon the backstage politics.

Menogna Jamine-Al Kafieldre is in the theater! Is she attempting to crash the play to disappoint the kids, or simply attacking the isolated target on stage?

Hector_1304 improvises to counter the assault. First, he becomes the villain depicted in the storyline. Then he somehow deals with Menogna. Will the stage manage to go on, without letting the spectators be aware of the pandemonium?

Will the farcical mixture of fiction and reality end safely? Beyond the curtain call, the new turns of events will emerge.

    Part One

    --- 01 ---

The Barrier-free Brigade that advances on the barrier-free spiral slope toward the upper tiers of Towerld has to take care of so many things to do, including (and not just limited to) conveying Gideon Yendrey Drahctrex (a forger in a coma) and guarding the power couple of Towbie Rhoentey Malgrokk (the Twisted Tyrant) and Mary Teana Blockheart (the Pluck Princess). To be honest, I did not know that the Barrier-free Big Top (also known as the Barrier-free Theatrical Troupe) was such a big deal.

I have heard that it is important to present various artworks and artistic expressions to the denizens of the barrier-free spiral slope. People with different physical and mental challenges are congregated. Each of them has a unique mindset and issues to tackle, and it becomes harder for the community to get united. (This applies to any floors of Towerld as well.) Physically disabled people can live more easily by helping each other to compensate for what are lacking. However, if each of them is too busy with tackling the individual problems, they will have no time for taking care of others, and the notion of teamwork becomes what can only be dreamt of. (In Towerld, anything that is too dreamy to be the reality is deemed a waste of time.)

This discrepancy among the denizens is a major source of headache for the leader of the Barrier-free Brigade. What if the prostheticators under his command wake up to the ideology of individualism and decide to become selfish enough to be on their own? The Barrier-free Brigade and its turf will lose the communal cohesiveness, and then become the stage for the shambles. The Twisted Tyrant will be conquered by the rival factions, and lose everything. In order for him to maintain his authority, it is essential for the prostheticators (his underlings) to share the common denominator of interests.

Thus, Towbie Rhoentey Malgrokk, the Twisted Tyrant came up with the plan to entertain the dwellers of his yard with the fine arts of theatrics and music, to nurture the common interest among them. If they have the common topic to talk about and pay attention to the same hobby all the time, then they will put the personal differences aside and reassure the reason for the existences of the Barrier-free Brigade. (By the way, what is that reason for the existences? Is there such a thing as reasons and meanings for existences of subhumans, in a world full of failures like Towerld? This makes no sense to me.)

This method seems to work even more effectively against innocent children. I guess that it is better for them to feel and sense the arts before they grow up to be tainted. (I my opinion, it is never too late, even after having grown up.)

    --- 02 ---

The Barrier-free Band plays the music, and the Barrier-free Big Top takes care of the theatrical side of the plan to unify the mindsets of the denizens. The musical band performers (the Pluck Princess, the Fay Ministress, Benny_2319, and other players) seem to be doing just fine. No matter where they go on the barrier-free spiral slope, they continue to add new musical tracks, and raise the bar of performances. The Wild Cards (the Fay Ministress, Benny_2319) seem to be working very hard, and their abilities to play their instruments have been improving. Now, they are barely capable of performing on stage without embarrassing themselves. (Neither of them is even close to the level of the Pluck Princess, but it is okay because no one is expecting them to be that good anyway.)

Fay Ministress has been doing something unique to modify her favorite instrument (bouzouki). Recently, she found an interesting item at one of the libraries. It is known as an amplifier. It is a box full of electric circuits and vacuum tubes, the designs of which I (not a specialist in engineering) have absolutely no idea of. By using the built-in effect circuitry, the amplifier modifies the electric signal from a pickup (that converts the sound waves into the electric signals) attached to an instrument to alter the tone. Then, the amplifying circuitry strengthens the modified signal. The built-in speakers then convert the electric signals into the sound waves, to emit the effect-processed sound. The Fay Ministress connects the amplifier to her bouzouki, and lets the device blast out the overdriven (properly distorted) sound from the speaker. Because of the unique buzzing sound, she is now dubbing a new name to her instrument, buzzouki. She told me that she spent the credit in her TTT account to buy the item. (I guess the system allows the purchase of the library item, with a certain amount of credit.) Since it is contributing to the performance of the Barrier-free Band, Towbie should be thankful for her work and pay for it.

The one who came up with this idea of boosting and modifying the instrumental tone via the effect processor and the amplifier is, none other than the Pluck Princess. Mary Teana is surely knowledgeable about and skilled in music. Even though music may be the only asset that she possesses, she is definitely not the jill of all trades and is the master of one. (That’s a good thing.)

    --- 03 ---

The music division of the entertainment promotion is doing just fine, and I am glad to know that. The problem that I have to face lies in the theatrical division.

There are many theaters and stages on the barrier-free spiral slope, and the Barrier-free Big Top stops by at those places to perform the stage plays. The name of the stage act is known as the Creamy Pure Show. There are series of novels under the name Creamy Pure: The Cleansing Confectioners stored in the libraries, and the act is said to be based on the books.

Really? Are they kidding me? What a creamy, I mean, creepy title?

The storyline goes as follows. The main characters are three young girls. They work as confectioners during the day. (I guess that in the setting of the novels, juveniles can actually have jobs.) When the antagonists attack the world to conquer everything, the girls stand up and transform into heroines with magical powers (girl guardians, or girldians).

What is so freakish about this is that people in the world of the storyline actually let three little girls save them and the world. The novel series is categorized as heroic saga, but I do not feel any element of heroism from a bunch of little girls. I guess that heroes in this fictitious setting are defined in ways different from what I know. Don’t grownups in this fictitious setting have any sense of shame? If such novels were written in the super ancient civilization that is said to have existed before the construction of Towerld, did they not feel embarrassed about being entertained by anything with such cheesy settings? Oh, I know. The super ancient civilization made such inferior novels as stage props, to fool the degenerate denizens of this world of colossal construction (Towerld), and to intentionally conform to the lowly losers that we are. Those high and mighty entities
