The Seating Arrangement of the Lounge Space
Part One
--- 01 ---
As I step out of the staircase landing into the open space, I realize that the vicinity seems to be too colossal to fit into what is supposed to be the limited dimensions of the confined construction named Towerld. I can still see the ceiling, but it is so high up above the floor that it is impossible to throw anything from the floor to hit the ceiling.
Two rows of longitudinally lined up soldiers in black business suits (Convertants) are assuming the human walls, to form a makeshift corridor leading to the deeper part of the space. Towbie the Twisted and I step into the opening between the walls of the black suits. Which part of the barrier-free floor are we at now, by the way?
I look forward, backward, to the left, to the right, upward, and downward. I notice and feel the spaciousness like I have never experienced in my life. Obviously, the floor covers quite a bit of real estate. Even if dozens of self-propelled wagons and wheelchairs run wild all over the place in all possible directions, there is little to no chance of making violent wrecks.
What surrounds this vast field is a bowl-shaped stepped slope, with each annular step forming a loop passageway for wheelchairs and larger vehicles. Currently, I am standing near the edge of the bottom of the bowl-shaped structure. Each annular passageway placed on the step is guarded with a fence, so the vehicles on the passageway do not fall off to the lower step. The drivers can park their wheelchairs, turn toward the fence, view the field at the bottom, and become the spectators of whatever event that takes place. Even though this place is not yet jam-packed, there are a few wheelchair drivers ready to observe what is transpiring around me. What is so entertaining about what is currently going on here?
So, this whole space is like a barrier-free stadium of some sort. Towbie and I are standing on the field, or the stage. One thing I know for sure. This stadium is far more gigantic than the bowl-shaped arena beside Direct-link Stairway #13 on the feminist floor.
--- 02 ---
I stand still upright, and twirl around once to view the entire stadium.
Obviously, it is not that the stadium boasts the infinite space, for it is still inside the limited confine of Towerld. A gigantic, cylindrical outer wall stands very tall, and surrounds the outermost and uppermost annular passageway.
One section of the imposing outer wall catches my attention. It is right above the staircase landing, where I and my fellow travelers were.
It is a gigantic cross, about 10 meters tall. It is overwhelming and visible from any part of the stadium.
As I focus my attention on it and observe the cross more carefully, I notice that it is not just another cross. A humanoid-shaped object is crucified on it.
Is it a 10-meter-tall doll? Is it an idol of some sort? It is a sculpted figure, probably made of ivory-colored ceramic. It looks like a skinny man suffering from malnutrition, without any clothes on from the waist up. As I ask myself, What is his age?
I try to observe his face. I can only try to do so, for the head of the figure is chopped off.
The crucifixion of a skinny, barely clothed man without his head. Is this a religious symbol of some sort? What religion is it? I might have read a document about this, but I cannot recall what it was about. Come to think about it, even a bookworm that I have been has not been able to find and read many books about religions. It is as if someone is constantly trying to purge any documents related to religions deliberately. I am getting paranoid enough to think that there are those who do not want anyone to have anything to do with religions.
As I am trying to recall something (that I do not know exactly), Towbie adds the explanation. Does he want to show off his knowledge of information, or something? I myself have gained quite a bit of information pertaining to various subjects, and I take pride in knowing a lot of things. When someone tries to brag about knowing what I am not too clear about, I feel a bit irritated.
Heh, that is the idol figure of the legendary one, known as Hector the Headless.
--- 03 ---
I have not heard that name for quite a long time. Now I see the crucified figure of the one named Hector the Headless for the first time in my life. Yes, he is indeed headless, as his namesake indicates. I am having hard times how to react to the idol that is based on the supposedly legendary figure displayed rather imposingly in a spacious stadium. I am just that much startled.
Heh, you are overwhelmed, I suppose.
Towbie speaks, as if in trying to make up for the one who is becoming silent. Even though it is not easy to tell from this angle, that figure appears to have had its head in the beginning. A long time ago, someone chopped off the head from the sculpture. I do not know why anyone would do that sort of thing. I guess that a certain faction did not like the person that the figure was originally based on, and decided to make that a figure representing Hector the Headless by knocking its head off the base. That is my wild guess.
Now what? This is getting very deep and mysterious. I mean, we have to unlock so many unknown elements in the history of Towerld, to understand what the deal with Hector the Headless is all about. That will surely lead to discovering the relationship between the name of the mysterious figure (Hector the Headless) and my name (Hector_1304). I do not think that the existence of the common denominator, Hector, can be dismissed as a mere coincidence.
As I keep on going to the upper levels of Towerld, I think I will discover the secrets naturally. I will solve many mysteries. The motivation for continuing the expedition is added, and the objective of the mission is becoming clearer than ever.
