()
About this ebook
Hector_1304, a bibliophile, utilizes the libraries that are located along the path of the journey, to try to discover many unknowns, including the secrets of Towerld and his birth. In one of the libraries, he meets a very strange, little librarian.
She is a dwarf in a lab coat, with a brass-colored eye wearing a monocle. As she shows off her knowledge, she is not telling Hector everything that he wants to know. Instead, she is encouraging Hector to commit an unthinkable act. As he is becoming helpless, who is coming to the rescue?
Who is this monocled midget? What does she want to do? Who is her target, Hector or somebody else? For what reason? When Towbie Rhoentey Malgrokk, the Twisted Tyrant speaks of what he knows about the mysterious midget, the enigma becomes murkier than ever.
The straight shooter is aiming at the target. Beware!

The Barrier-free Spiral Slope
Part One
--- 01 ---
How is your journey through the barrier-free spiral slope coming along?
If someone asks me this question, then I, known as Hector_1304, may take more than a few moments of time to come up with a proper answer. Since I am still alive, I can say that the caravan to the trade tier has been okay so far. However, there are a few interferences here and there, so I may have to admit that the path has been somewhat rough.
The exodus itself is not that complicating. It is just the Barrier-free Brigade moving from the barrier-free floor through the barrier-free spiral slope to the trade tier. Hundreds of self-propelled wagons accompany the self-propelled mobile bleacher (base of operation of the Stairway Shieldian) and the mobile life-support system (with my forger friend Gideon in coma), to march massively.
The Barrier-free Brigade should be able to utilize its mobility to move to the destination floor rather quickly. After all, Towbie Rhoentey Malgrokk, the Twisted Tyrant, has probably organized his brigade so that he can move from one part of his yard (the barrier-free spiral slope) to another freely. That is what anyone would think. We cannot ignore the issue pertaining to the sluggishness of the mobile life-support system (necessary to keep Gideon alive). The large-sized contraption was designed and constructed, based on the premise that it was going to be fixed to the floor. However, at one point, it was majorly revamped to cater to the need of being moved from one place to another. Wheels are attached in a brute-force method. The motor is not allowed to be mounted on the system, for it shall not affect the patient inside. Judging from the way Towbie was explaining the details, I thought the life-support system was self-propelled. Five self-propelled wagons, designed to generate enough torque for towing heavy objects, are connected and lined up on a single file, to tow the wheeled life-support system, which cannot move with its own power. I think those self-propelled wagons are of the same type as those powered by hydrogen engines that the Twisted Tyrant used for the interrogation session against the assaulters, when I entered the barrier-free floor (with then-conscious Gideon) for the first time.
After all, technology that is adequate for mobilizing any machine of such a humongous girth is not available in Towerld, let alone the Barrier-free Brigade. I understand that the gigantic size of the apparatus is required, in order to let the patient (Gideon for our case here) stay alive. But, does it mean that we can accept its dimensions ending up being more imposing than the vehicle (a large-sized self-propelled wagon, known as the commander’s cart) that Towbie (the leader of the pack) uses? The speed of the wheeled life-support system, towed by five self-propelled wagons, is 10 meters per minute (10 meters/min). I think I can move faster than that while sleeping and rolling over.
What makes the situation even worse is the lack of quality and technology of batteries in general. It represents the primitiveness of overall technology in Towerld. Several medical devices are mounted on the wheeled life-support system, and the required electric power has to be supplied continually all the time. If Towerld were a utopia, and blessed with the technology so advanced to the level that everyone is satisfied with it all the way, then all we have to do is to mount very high-capacity batteries on the wheeled life-support system. Unfortunately, this world of the closed confines is not perfect. (If we were living in such a consummate world, then we would be deemed so unworthy to the level that we would have been denied the right to be born in this world to start with.) This colossal construction that contains a world of its own is not even acceptably good enough to be adequately average.
Several electric power cords are attached to the wheeled life-support system. When it is mobilized as a part of the Barrier-free Brigade, at least any one of the power cords has to be connected to the power outlet, to keep the power supply to the medical devices alive. Since an emergency battery backup system (a low-tech battery that can last for a short span of time) is attached to the entire system, therefore it is not that the patient inside dies once all the cords are unplugged simultaneously at any brief moment by accident. However, if such accidents that are related to the issues pertaining to the electric power supply keep on occurring, then the malicious effects to Gideon’s vital condition cannot be ignored. Several members of the brigade have to repeat the process of plug, unplug, and plug again
continuously, one after another, from one to the next, to get the wheeled life-support system moving toward the destination, just like the useless Zaunam Heybris Dynek, the patient of the ‘plug plague’.

As a part of the deal to convey Gideon Yendrey Drahctrex (a forger in a coma) to the trade tier, Mary Teana Blockheart, the Pluck Princess has gotten herself married to Towbie Rhoentey Malgrokk, the Twisted Tyrant and the leader of the Barrier-free Brigade. As the incentive to the politically forced marriage, the Pluck Princess is given the privilege of being able to lead the Barrier-free Band, formed exclusively for performing musical numbers to boost the morale of
