This collection of sayings was noted in Jamshedpur and Bhubaneswar in India in the nineteen-sixties by his devotee Govinda Lal Chatterjee.

"My love is the source

of all my inspiration.

For the sake of my love

I talk, I move, I do, and I serve

the world by my side.

I don’t know what is evil,

what is truth,

what is wrong, what is right.

Anything that fulfils my love

is religion to me.

I don’t know God in the sky,

mountain, or piece of clay.

I don’t know the performance

of any religious sentiment,

prayer, ritual, asceticism.

Only I know my love,

my living embodied beloved

in whom I live

and who is my good abode

of love and life.

If I feel that my beloved

wants me to kiss and lick the feet

of all created beings,

indeed I will do that

and get a world of joy out of it.

If my beloved wants me

– in whatever way and to whomever –

to serve,

I serve.

I am happy only with what he is
