The Agency – a new start

Sisley arrives at the logistic company Airways one of the largest international logistic companies world-wide where she is supposed to have a job interview. After registering with the receptionist at the 4th floor she carries on, going up to the 5th floor where the Manager Riveri who she has the job interview with has his office.

The door is half open, she enters the room and to her surprise, the office is empty, no Riveri. First, she waits while standing in the empty room.

After a short while, she decides to go back asking the Receptionist to help her out. The Receptionist tries to call the Manager and leaves a message on the Managers cell phone that a candidate is waiting for a job interview.

Sisley goes up again to the office: no Riveri at first, when suddenly from underneath the table a head appears, Riveri the Export Manager. He takes a seat on his chair than looking at Sisley Hello? The guy is asking like he’d been sitting on his chair for the last thirty minutes.

Sisley astonished "Riveri? I’ve already been here thirty minutes ago, I’m Sisley from the temp firm. We had an interview scheduled for ten am.

Riveri fully confident: Didn’t you see me? I was here all the time.

Sisley while rolling her eyes: Oh, no somehow I must have missed you, but didn’t you hear me? I said Hello when I came in here thirty minutes ago?

Riveri harrumphs and then starts: Hm, no. But anyway, you see I’m very busy here and things go sometimes like this, somehow chaotic, so this is why I need someone here for organizing this office. We have some projects running and there are priorities to be set. I need to be able to rely on this person that does this job here and of course, you have to be a decent, trustworthy person, most of what we do is top secret. Can you deal with such an environment?

Sisley fakes an understanding smile: Of course, I have worked in a busy environment before, that’s not new to me. That’s probably why the agency suggested me for that role.

Riveri is nodding his head and agrees convinced. Yes, it seems to me as you could handle this job. The position is based on twenty-five hours a week and I need you to be here daily, five hours, five days a week, you’re starting time can be flexible, you can adjust this to your study as you like. He blubs out. Sounds great, that suits perfectly.

Sisley agrees in a friendly tone. Okay than you could start Monday, I confirm to the agency and as already said some days might be as busy just as today, so don’t wonder if you come in the morning finding me under the table. Riveri jokes.

Yes, sure, just like today or maybe I find you here in the morning sleeping on the table for exhaustion. Sisley laughs.

Yes, that could easily happen, too. I see you understand our business. Riveri stands up and moves towards Sisley for a handshake.

Right. Thank you very much Riveri. I’m looking forward to starting on Monday. Sisley confirms. Yes, see you on Monday, have a charming afternoon.

Riveri re-confirms while opening the office door. Good bye, Riveri, for you, too. Sisley walks out of the office.

Sisley walks along the corridor, taking the stairs down back to the fourth floor returning the visitor pass at the reception desk. Did you find Riveri? How was the interview? The Receptionist is asking and smiles at Sisley.

Yes, I found him, he appeared suddenly from underneath the desk. Seems like the guy needs desperately someone to organize his office and this lucky person will be me, I’m going to start on Monday. Sisley answers and at the same time she feels a kind of release.

Sisley returns to the job agency where she is presently supposed to work for Ms. Bacon until she gets her first client contract. Ms. Bacon does not believe Sisley to have the job as the confirmation Email has not arrived in her inbox, yet. Oh, Sisley, nice to see you how did the interview went on? Ms Bacon asks.

Well, good so far we agreed that I start on Monday. It’s actually for 25 hours which I agreed to because that perfectly fits my study. Sisley happily reports. Oh, that’s fantastic! We can change your contract hours for the deployment with this customer from full-time to part-time. I get the paperwork ready than all you need to do is to sign it. The consultant replies.

Yes, and as agreed please add the unpaid holidays for my quarterly examen dates as well as we already discussed, Sisley adds. In the afternoon Sisley is signing the written additions on the contract and then leaves the agency.

Two days later, on a Thursday Sisley is already at the job agency working on a job for Ms. Bacon who arrives after ten. Ms. Bacon first checks her E-Mails then she turns to Sisley. Hm, Sisley I still haven’t received any confirmation E-Mail from Mr. Riveri about your deployment. I sent an E-Mail to the personnel department our contact here at the airport, asking about more details, but they say they don’t know anything about. Are you sure you agreed to start on Monday? Ms. Bacon asks with an ironic underlying tone.

Sisley is looking up surprised. Yes, that’s what we agreed to. As far as I know, the paperwork goes through the Munich personnel department and not Frankfurt. That’s what he said. Maybe, it’s a good idea to contact the company's personnel department in Munich who is responsible for the deployment and deals with the contract details? Sisley asks slightly cynically.

Well, maybe that’s an idea. This is normally not our way how we handle this, but I will give them a call. Ms. Bacon is upset but agrees as she would not dare to miss such an opportunity like this contract.

Thirty minutes later Ms. Bacon screaming out of joy at her computer.

Yes! They finally have sent the confirmation E-Mails directly from Munich and I even could make them sign for the higher rate, I just received the fax confirmation. Ms. Bacon bursts out happily.

Then changing her voice into a strict tone of voice towards Sisley. Sisley, you will start on Monday as discussed. Ms. Bacon demands.

Sisley sitting in front of her computer rolling her eyes and mumbling. Did she really think I made that up? than shouting in a friendly faking voice towards Ms. Bacon’s office. "Great, I’m so lucky, looking forward to
