Romance
Story 1
Richard Porter
Felicity was a hard working woman since she was in high school, she always strived to be better and work harder than her parents did and after college it all paid off when she was first hired on as an intern for a technical company.
Even in her intern position she strived to do more and work harder to get a desk job which was obtained only months after being hired to be an intern, his goal was to one day be the manager of a branch of the company one day. The problem with Felicity is that she wanted more than anything to share her success with someone, but people found her too intimidating, or work would keep her from seeing anyone since she had to work long hours. Though nothing seemed to work out for Felicity, she always held her head high and always told herself that her true love would come to her one day.
One morning Felicity woke up and was in the middle of getting ready to head in for work when she received a call from her boss while standing in front of her mirror trying to figure out what clothes she wanted to wear for the day.
Good morning Felicity,
said her boss Carol, Good morning
Felicity responded not sure why she was receiving a call so early before coming in to work. I am calling you to let you know that the department head wants to speak with you before you go to your office. I cannot really say what they want to talk to you about. But I will say good luck to you
Carol said sounding positive which gave her some relief from the stress that she was feeling after hearing the words department head and
want to talk to you" in the same sentence of what her boss had just told her.
Okay, you can let them know that I will be in around eight,
Felicity said doing her best not to sound nervous, Will do, I will see you later,
Carol said and hung up the phone ending the call between the two of them. Felicity looked at the two business outfits she was piecing together and began to panic at how stupid they looked and ran to her closet pulling out a business suit she had saved for special occasions.
It was a black jacket and black flowing slacks that were very forming to the waist and butt and then flowed out over her feet, she wore the two-piece suit with a white button-up blouse and black stiletto heels and a string of pearls around her neck with her pearl earrings. She wore her blonde hair up in a ponytail and put on enough makeup to keep her look natural and looked herself over once more in the mirror before leaving for work.
After Felicity had arrived at work, she took the elevator to the fifth floor where her department heads were located with her heart skipping a beat as she watched the numbers slowly light up as she passed her comfortable third-floor office. The elevator suddenly stopped to allow someone on, Felicity could not help but stare at the dark haired and fair skinned man in uniform walking to the elevator.
He was obviously fit and looked like he worked with something technical. Since he was wearing a utility belt that had tools and small machines she did not quite recognize on his belt, all she knew was that this man was very attractive, and she needed to stop staring at his butt as he stood in front of her. The doors to the elevator closed and the silence was somewhat awkward, What floor?
she asked trying to make some small talk with this mystery man. He looked at her and smiled making her blush as she looked down at her feet, I am heading to the same floor
he said moving to the other side of the elevator. Just thought I would ask,
she said as she nervously brushed her hair behind her ear rolling her eyes as she looked away, I appreciate it,
he said still smiling at her.
Felicity looked up and saw that they were finally reaching the fifth floor, and the doors opened up allowing the two of them to get off the elevator. See you around,
the mystery man said as he went his way more than likely to fix something. As Felicity went her way heading to her department heads office, there she saw the secretary on the phone talking business with someone when she lifted her head to see Felicity standing there she gave her a smile and motioned for her to take a seat.
Hello Ms. Davenport, David is waiting for you and the others in conference room two,
she said as she covered the receiver of her phone and pointed her in the direction of where she needed to go. Felicity headed to conference room two and saw the glass her department head and a few others who were probably his partners along with the man she rode the elevator with altogether in the room talking until she walked through the door.
Ah, Felicity...please take a seat,
said David who was her department head, before we talk business I would like to introduce you to everyone here,
he said as he looked at the three people sitting to his right. First is Jacob Harvey, who is my boss and then there is Jamie Sullivan who is the supervisor of your department, and last but not least the head technician for the technical resources department, Christopher Knolls,
he said with a smile on his face as he finished
