    CHAPTER ONE

It was December fourteen a few weeks before Christmas, the morning air was cold, the wind was blowing strongly, and the streets were covered with white snow from the night before. Lisa Jordan stood on the platform in Stamford train station waiting for the Amtrak train to come in; she was heading to Boston on an unknown Journey. She pulled her coat collar up her neck as she pace up and down the platform trying to keep warm and stop thinking about how bitter cold it was. Too, take her mind off the weather. She tried to remember the conversation she had with her Captain Max Barnes Four days ago before in his office, it was across nine o’clock Friday morning. She was looking forward to the weekend, she had plan to spent it with her parents, when she entered the federal building in Manhattan on center street taking the elevator up to the nine floor, he was waiting for her as she stepped out the elevator taking her by surprised. Morning Captain Morning Lisa, I was just going to your office to see if you were in, you are, late this morning are you alright? He asked her. Sure captain, she remembered saying to him, but she wasn’t all right. She had another terrible dream. It was about falling, and crying out for Jeff to save her. Well all right, there are some things I would like to discuss with you. follow me to my office, he spoke softly to her, looking over his shoulder as they walk by the other agents desks Lisa could not help noticing the seriousness on his face decided and to follow him. She could see some worry line around his mouth, coming to her own conclusion that something was not right, she felt a tight knot in her stomach. Wondering what she had done wrong not giving her a change to go into her office to put her things down. As she followed him down the hallway, she took a quick glimpse over her shoulder and saw all the other agents staring after them until they were out of sight. Lisa felt a little chill took over a body wondering what she had done wrong that the captain wanted to speak to her in private. Shaking off the fear as she followed him into, his office telling to shut the door behind her and take a seat, I don’t want our conversation be heard outside this door, it’s a very delicate matter, what I have to say. Captain Max offered a chair, while he went around his desk and sat down. She sat opposite him watching him while, he picked up a folder, and push toward her. Lisa looked up as at feeling a little confuse. Their eyes locked for a moment, she want to speak but couldn’t get the words out, as she waited for him to explain his urgency, and why the privacy. She looked across him and notices the change in his face. Captain Max! Are you all right? You look very pale. What’s this folder and what this has to do with me? No I’m not, alright, he replied in a serious voice. I’ve a big problem and you’re the only one who could help me, and I trust you to keep it under your hat he hesitated for a moment and leaning forward in his chair putting both hands on his desk rubbing his forehead and said in a trouble voice. One of my agents is working undercover in Boston, and I belief he might be in dangerous, he stops talking, and taking a deep slow breath into his lungs, he continued to explain the situation. I don’t understand what you’re trying to tell; that got you so upset, and why are you’re telling me this? Please explain because I am a little confused," Captain Max seat back in his chair massaging the side of temple without taking his eyes off Lisa trying to minimize her. Max knew when he explained the situation how she would react. He took a long deep breath and reaching across his desk and pick up his glass of water. His hand shook as he put the glass to his lips he slowly took a few sips, then, rest the glass close to his hand. Max cleared his throat and said I pick you for this, assignment because; you’re very familiar with the case which was never closed. Max kept his eyes on her as he speak, once again he saw a confusion, look on her face,

Lisa leaned over resting her elbow on his desk as she brace herself for what was coming next, trying not to interrupt him, but if he doesn’t get to the point, she will to lose her patience, she thought. Captain Max stood up and walked around his desk and stop at the end of his desk. Knowing he have to pick his words careful if he need her help. As far as you know we closed the case on Victor, but what you do not know is we still keeping tab on Victor movements and activity. Lisa began to see where conversation was going. She pushes her chair back and stood facing the did. I will never stop investigating that man until I bring him to justice, and face all the distraction he did to people lives. Sit down and let me finish. That is why I call you in here to talk about. Don’t get on you high horse with me. That’s the reason I pick you for the case, you’re stubborn hot head, and impatience, and another thing you like to act first and ask question after. I don’t know if to take this as an insult or a complement; but you didn’t call here to insult me or my character; just tell me what’s on your mind so I could go and do my job. We all know the kind of dealing we have with Victor Walter, plus the threat he made on your life, right now he is laying low but still active in his drugs and weapons dealing. That’s where you come in. Sure, how can I ever forget that man? The biggest drug dealer in Stamford, and he was partly responsible for the death of my sister. The thought of not seeing her sister again brought a sicken feeling inside the pit of her stomach, She took a long deep breath filling her lung with air to hold down the nauseous that beginning to come her throat, Lisa sit back in the chair to absorbed the anger and pain, Victor had caused in her family lives. The room was quiet the only noise that could be heard was the traffic in the busy street in Manhattan. Lisa shook her head as the tears began to roll down her cheeks. Captain Max walks around his desk and took out a box of tissue, and handed it to her. Lisa clenched her teeth. She so wanted to scream too tell him go to hell, but she keep her lips closes. A few seconds went by before she said. Lisa dried her tears and blew her nose then said Captain; why are you asking me about Victor now? What’s going on, do you know something that I am not aware off?" she asked him

Just the mere mention of Victor name send chill down her spine. nine years ago her sister die from drug over dose the day she turned sixteen at her birthday party their parents had throw for her, at their home in North Stamford High Ridge Road. One week later during the investigation they learned the police had arrested a seventeen old boy Tommie Walters nephew of Victor Walters. The boy confessed that he stole the drugs from his uncle and brought it to the party. The news on T.V and in the newspapers reported that Victor Walters was the biggest drug and weapon runner in Stamford and the F.B.I had him under civilian on his activities for months, and under their radar. From that day, she vows to take revenge for her sister. She could still picture, her little sister playing in the back yard with their parents. They had a beautiful relationship she and her sister, they had a happy home until her sister met her untimely death. Lisa still could not look at her parents and not see their faces, the day of the funeral she watches her mother collapses and had to rush to the Stamford Hospital. They kept her overnight just to be sure it was not her heart every time she visiting them, she could see their grieving faces. Their house was built in the fifties and they was the second owners, it was surrounding by a white fence, and tall pine trees the lawns front and back was covered with green grass and beautiful flowers in the summer. Her parents bought the house twenty years ago prior to her sister death. It was a five bedroom, three bathrooms, Den, large living room, with a big dining room and kitchen. She and her sister had not born then. She was three when her sister Janet was born.

Janet was a beautiful girl soft spoken, high-spirited person; she was fun to be with gentle and kind to people, something that was lacking in her personality Lisa thought. She loved her sister Janet: very much and still misses her. She never held the boy responsible. He was only a child himself, Lisa, blamed his Uncle Victor when, she found out where he got the drugs, that courses the death of her sister. Lisa made it her business to get to know the man. Each day she would read the newspapers or listened to the news. Victor and his activities was always mentioning, where he was what he is doing, and with whom. Looking back she remembered making a vow to get revenge. After talking to her parents about dropping out of college, she joins the police academy at the age of nineteen. Lisa turned her attention back to the captain as she tried to control her emotions waiting for him to tell her why he need her help. The suspense was killing her she couldn’t stay still in the chair. Lisa peered up at him I’m sorry captain but what this assignment have to do with Victor?

Max cleared his throat knowing it was a very touchy subject for her but she is the only one he could sent beside, she know the case better than anyone. How soon can you pack a suitcase? Why? And where are you sending me.

You’re going on a trip, I want you to go to Boston and find one off my agent he’s been missing for over a week. I had not heard from him, my gut is telling me something is wrong. Who is this agent captain? How come I never heard about this before? Lisa began to get very suspicious. Captain Max looked down at the folder in his hands trying to make up his is mine whither he should tell her the truth about Jeff, Lisa could see he was acting nervous, but said nothing. Three years ago we heard Victor was living in Boston. We suspected he is still running his business there. This agent decided to go under cover and get a job in Victor organization; we have been communicating ever second off each month. The last time we spoke he told me Victor was acting strange, when he is around, which made him come to a conclusion that Victor was getting suspicions off him and he mightn’t get the opportunity to call; that’s the last time I heard from him. That the reason way I’m sending you to Boston; you have to find him, and help him finish the job. Max said picked up a big envelope he pushed it in front of her. I want you to take this envelope with you but don’t open it until you’re safe in your hotel it will explain everything, now I want you to go home and get packing your train ticket will be waiting for you to be pick up at the station, and a rental car when you got to Boston."

Lisa couldn’t remembered leaving his office or walking back to the elevator or getting into her car and driving back to Stamford to her apartment, she was in a daze, Stun by the news about Victor and learning she was back on the case. This time she made a vow to herself, she was going to do everything in her power to get Victor and put him behind bars where he belongs. He was going to pay for her sister death and all the people he has hurt. She took 1-95 to white plain and branch over to the Merritt parkway she came off exit 35 to high ridge road, not realizing she was being followed until she happen to glance into her rearview mirror, and notice a white car behind her, just to be on the safe side. Instead of driving straight to her apartment, she make a right turn headed down high ridge road, with the white car was still on her tail. Lisa slows down her car to get the license plate number, and to see if she could see the driver face, when she felt a hard bump behind her car forcing her body to go forward hitting the steering wheel. Lisa picks up speed but keeping her eyes on the rearview mirror, just to make sure the car was trailing her and drove down high ridge road trying to keep too the speed limit, when the car bump behind her again. Lisa knew the only way to stop the person behind the wheel from trying to kill her, was to switches on her siren and picking up speed with the white car was right on her tail. She came to the conclusion that the person was either trying to frighten her or kill her making a quick decision, she a fast right turn onto long ridge road, and stop the car, she quickly reach for her gun, and pushing the door open moving fast with her gun in hand. She saw the white car vanishing down Cold Spring Road, her hands were shaking and wet with sweat, she was breathing fast trying to get air into her lungs, before getting back into her car, she took another look down the street just to made the car was gone. Lisa steps back into the car and closing the door resting her head on the steering wheel, She put the car in drive, and continued down Long Ridge Rood then she making a right turn onto Wire Mill Road, which took back to Long Ridge Road. The air was cold and crisp reminding her it was winter. As she drive keeping her eyes on the rearview road until she reaches her apartment. Lisa stops in front of her garage turned off the engine, she pick up her gun on the seat, then lean down on the floor and picks her purse, and the envelope, before she opened the car door. Lisa stepped out her car and stop at her mailbox to collect her mail and notice a big brown envelope stock inside, she pulled it out with the rest off her mail, and hurried inside the building, and hurried into her apartment unit three. She unlocks the door and entered closing the door behind her. She lean her back against the door, she was still shaken up from near death counting to ten to calm herself, she then headed straight in the bedroom. She suspect Victor had sent one off his men to get rid of her. Lisa knew Victor was responsible for the attempt on her life, and he will do anything to stop her from persuading him. Lisa anxious to see who send her brown envelope sat on the bed and opening it, she pulled out the files, scanning her eyes over the headlines, it was a file about Victor; she looked at the envelope to see if there was a return address, or something to tell her who sends it but nothing. Puzzled by the file just then her stomach began too rumbled remind her she had not eaten since lunchtime, leaving the papers on the bed. She decided she would read it later. Lisa got off the bed and started to undress when her the phone began to ring, she let it ring, while she took her clothes off, hoping the person would give up, and go away, but the ringing continued. Grabbing it, hello there was no answer but she could hear a heavy breathing. She said hello again still no answer, just as she decided to hang-up when a muffled voice said. I hope you got the letter I sent you?’’ Lisa replied, Who is this? Just a concern friend. the voice on the other line said and hand up, Lisa was confused about the caller, but she was hungry, tired, and miss getting killed, she put the phone back on the hook. She was just too finish undressing, when the phone began to ring again She let it rung hoping the person would hang up, but it continued to ring. She grabbed the phone up not saying anything. Then she heard a deep laughter.

Ha, ha, ha, I see you escape me this time the next you wouldn’t be so lucky; keep watching over your shoulder because next time you might not be so lucky. I would not make it that easy on you. the male
