I woke up this morning with a feeling that today was the beginning of a new chapter in my life and it would never be the same. I believe in my heart that it was not going to end in a way that I could ever dream of.

When I arrived at work, I opened my email to see that I received one for Edward Moore asking if I can come to his office by 8 o’clock this morning. After looking at my other emails, I noticed that it was fifteen minutes before I was supposed to meet Edward. I rushed to the elevators at the end of the hall to go up to his office.

Arriving at Edward’s office, I noticed that there were boxes throughout the room. With all the boxes, you could not even see the desk in the center of the office. The photos and awards that he had hanging on the walls were all gone and packed away. I knock on the open door to get his attention but he seems as busy with packing that he does not notice me still for a few more minutes.

When Edward finally looks at the doorway, he says Come in and have a sit. Sorry for all of the boxes. I am just trying to get my things packed quickly.

I take a sit in the only empty chair in front of his now hidden desk and wait to hear the news that he called me in here for. I hope that it is nothing bad because he has always been a great boss.

Stella, I have just been promoted to Vice President of Development. Therefore, my current position will need to be filled and you are being considered to be my replacement. Mr. Harry Black, as you know owner and CEO of the Thunder Corporation, would like to speak with you about this opportunity this evening. Can you meet with him at 8 o’clock tonight in his office on the top floor?

Three thoughts go through my head from hearing this news. One, what does Mr. Black want to meet with me about when I have never seen or spoken to him in the five years that I have been working for the company. Two, why isn’t Edward going to talk to me
