About this ebook

We've all been in relationships that started strong but have fizzled out, or stuck with someone we knew wasn't right for us for fear of being alone. You might be there right now, or perhaps you're between relationships and wondering where all the good ones have gone. Jen Arricale spent years struggling with that disconnect between what she had and what she wanted. Everything changed when she embraced this truth:

By improving yourself, you will improve your relationships.

The Locker Room strips away the complexity to reveal the few vital things you need to focus on in order to have meaningful relationships. Through relatable, real-life stories, Jen will empower you to take care of yourself, re-establish your own identity, and practice healthy communication. Using the practical techniques Jen provides, you'll better understand yourself and what you need from the people in your life. Fulfilling, healthy relationships and true connection are possible—this book helps you find both.

I thank my husband, Sheldon Harris, for challenging me to believe that great relationships can be created and that I am worthy of love and honesty, and for not putting up with my B.S. But most of all, I thank him for inviting the innocent, adventurous, tenacious little girl in me to come out from hiding, the girl that never stopped believing in real love.

    Introduction

This isn’t the way; it is a way. It’s a way that worked for me after multiple failed relationships. It’s from a woman’s point of view, but the concepts are applicable to anyone who wants to create a wonderful, committed, and intimate relationship with another person. Many of these concepts are equally powerful when applied to life outside romantic relationships—family, friends, work.

Everyone wants something different. A lot of people have common dreams for romantic relationships: a good person who listens, gets them, and is giving and thoughtful but not a pushover. Someone they can trust. Someone who lights their heart on fire every time they think about them and is the best sex partner they’ve ever had. Someone who is not afraid to give them space but who also doesn’t want so much space that they feel like they’re living alone.

But many little things, or shades of gray, do matter over time. A perfect match is not the goal, but mutual respect and love are. A fair partnership and thoughtful conversation go a long way in making
