About this ebook

Shy zoologist Marianne Kane has a hard time getting along with her fellow humans - she'd rather be out in the field studying hyenas. When a huntress from the hyena pack she's researching chases her down, Marianne expects the worst. She doesn't expect to be seduced by the gorgeous, shapeshifting queen of the clan! Now she has the chance to study the species and their unique anatomy - up close and personal!

Read on for over 7000 words of animalistic attraction and girl-on-girl smut!

Excerpt:

"Oh, I'm still a hyena," Dinha informed her. She laid one slender hand on Marianne's chest and pushed her down, lightly, but the touch made her weak and she collapsed back dizzily against the ground. "I just look like this" – she made an eloquent gesture at body, from shapely shoulders to broad hips – "sometimes. Or," she amended, "maybe I'm like you, and I just look like a hyena sometimes. Who can say? Changing shapes is easy for us." Again came that smile, as if she were pitying Marianne for not knowing how to shift from hyena to woman and back again.

"You mean you've been able to – to look like a human – this whole time?" Marianne couldn't keep the disbelief out of her voice. Some of the fear had left her, but adrenaline still raced throughout her body, making her sound breathy and higher-pitched.

"Well," she said, "we tend to shift more often when we are in heat."

Marianne considered that. "Oh," she said, then: "Ohhh."

It had taken Marianne Kane all day to set up her camera on its tripod overlooking vast swathes of Ethiopian savanna. There were settings to calibrate and re-calibrate based on the position of the sun, there was the tricky problem of finding a stable shelf of rocks or grass to prop up the tripod's legs, and there was – most importantly – the placement of Marianne herself, in such a spot where she could both quietly observe the landscape and still be close enough to activate her camera shutter by remote control. When she finally found the right location and had just hunkered down to begin her watch, her cellphone went off, blaring an annoying chiptune. It was a text from her department head, informing her that sundown had begun and she needed to get back to the home base post-haste to avoid breaking curfew.

Just like that, a day of hard work was erased, with nothing to show for all her painstaking effort. Frick! Marianne exclaimed, slapping her palm against her forehead so hard she nearly knocked her glasses off.

The cell chirped off its ringtone again with another text: NOW, Marianne. She held it at arm's length, as if hoping she could keep both it and the sunset at bay.

One booted foot tapped the ground anxiously as she studied the screen, wondering just how pissed Dr. Denbrough would be if she blew him off. In the sun's dimming red rays, she cut a stark, lonely figure, quite out of place against the savanna. Marianne was pale and freckled, courtesy of a long-forgotten Irish offshoot of her family tree, and she had the copper-colored hair to match her complexion. As the heat of the day had
