Step by Step Guide to the Volumetrics Diet - Dr. W. Ness

    What is the Volumetrics Diet?

Unlike most other diets, the volumetrics diet is a weight loss program that does not restrict how much food an individual can eat, in fact, it actually promotes eating larger portions of food that have a low energy density with a higher water content such as fresh fruits, vegetables, lean meats and low-fat dairy products.

So long as you stay within the confines of the volumetrics diet guidelines, almost every type of food is still available for a person to eat so long as they watch the calorific content, water content and fiber content of the foods they eat.

A selection of the low energy density foods available to individuals following the volumetrics diet include the following:

    Fresh Fruit.

    Fresh Vegetables.

    Low-Fat Dairy Products.

    Whole Grains.

    Beans & Legumes.

    Lean Meats.

    The Volumetrics Diet Plan.

The volumetrics diet plan has proven to be able to allow a person to lose 1-2 pounds of excess weight every week by allowing them to fill up on low-calorie foods but still allowing them to reduce their daily calorific intake resulting in a steady, healthy weight loss of up to 1-2 pounds a week so long as that person is following the guidelines of the volumetric diet.

The foods that you can eat as part of the volumetrics diet plan are split into 4 different categories based on how dense they are in calories, their nutritional vales and water content. These categories are:

    Free Foods.

These are the foods that you can eat freely, anytime of the day and of almost any amount within the confines of your daily calorific intakes and include vegetables, fruit and dairy products such as:

    Celery.

    Cucumber.

    Asparagus.

    Salad Greens.

    Raw Tomatoes.

    Cantaloupe Melon.

    Bell Peppers.

    Carrots.

    Salsa.

    Strawberries.

    Watermelon.

    Peaches.

    Light Yogurts.

    Iced Teas.

    Oranges.

    Reasonable Foods.

These are the foods on the diet that can be eaten at a reasonable amount and include thikngs such as whole grains, lean proteins, legumes & bean and low-fat dairy products. Foods on this list include:

    Cottage Cheese.

    Grapes.

    Tomato Based Pasta Sauce.

    Firm Tofu.

    Plain Yogurts.

    Green Peas.

    Beans (Kidney, Cannellini, Green).
