    Part 1

    Trapped by my Boss

    Chapter 1.1

‘Tatiana, Tatiana! Your phone is ringing!’ Elsa shouted.

‘Oh, great, I hope someone’s calling me about an interview, I've spent the whole week applying for jobs.’

‘Answer it fast, I'm dying to know...’

    ‘Yes, hello?’

‘Good afternoon, can I speak to Miss Tatiana Quinn?’

    ‘Yes, speaking.’

‘I'm Christine Berne, editor of Generations magazine... ’

    ‘Yes?’

‘... you left us a resumé, would you be able to come for an interview tomorrow at 9?’

‘Of course! No problem, I will be there at that time.’

‘Perfect, the interview will be conducted by the director, Troy Hamilton. However, ask for me as soon as you arrive.’

    ‘I will do.’

‘Until tomorrow then, have a nice day.’

    ‘Thank you!’

Tatiana left the phone on the small table in the living room, turning to her sister Elsa with clenched fists and a face of uncontainable joy.

‘Well? Don’t leave me like that, what did they say???’

‘Tomorrow I have an interview with a fashion magazine! Oh my God, bring me luck!’

‘Hopefully! Almost three months have gone by without anything good coming up. Those pigs from the marketing agency treated you really badly.’

‘If I’d known, I wouldn’t even have accepted that job. If I had only heard that they were downsizing... ’

‘Nobody has any scruples any more’ said Elsa, ‘the last one to arrive is the first to leave, you should have accepted that offer in the deli, they would have paid you more.’

    ‘Me, working in a deli?’

‘Don’t be like that! You have to learn from life, sister. If you don’t get on with it, you'll get nothing but blows.’

‘Well, let's see how tomorrow goes, the director is interviewing me.’

‘Uff, a man, a pig like the rest of them I’m sure... ’

‘Don’t be like that Elsa, you’re always the same.’

‘Well, take advantage of the situation! Make yourself cute, dazzle him, all men are the same.’

    ‘I don’t want to exaggerate...’

‘Life is hard sister, since he is a man, make sure you play your cards right. Good luck!’ Elsa kissed her, took her shopping and left.

But Elsa was right, this was a great opportunity to get the job she was looking for. As for men, her sister had a special way of thinking - she had had many relationships, which never lasted - she was divorced, and the broken relationships stretched behind her for miles (only kidding!). Elsa always assumed the role of protector with Tatiana, while being devilish with men.

As for Tatiana, at 27 she had only had three boyfriends, and she had left the last one because of boredom, he was so dull. Although the other two had hardly made her life very happy either, she felt that she lacked experience and had always fantasized about having a really exciting adventure.

‘Maybe it's a key turning point’, thought Tatiana. ‘I'm sick of shitty jobs.’

Tatiana was upset when she was fired from the previous company, the job in the sales department had been perfect for her, but they were making people redundant. They treated her awfully, and in a short time she found herself again on the street again, hunting for a new job.

After that failure her insecurity grew. She kept thinking about the interview she would have the next day. She prepared a coffee, but her head didn’t clear, she needed to talk to someone. She phoned her sister.

‘Don’t worry so much,’ Elsa said, ‘you'll be OK.’

‘I hope you’re right, things are starting to get critical.’

‘If you need money, I can lend you something.’

‘No, thanks, I'll work this out myself.’

    ‘Go get ‘em, sister!’

‘What would I do without you?’

‘Oh, if only you would pay more attention to me... ’

‘Sometimes I really don’t agree with you… like I don’t think it's a good idea to dress like a slut for tomorrow's interview.’

‘I'm not saying dress like a whore, only take advantage of your natural blessings to get the position.’

    ‘Yes, but... ’

    ‘Use your womanly weapons!’

‘But what do you mean, sister, it's a fashion magazine, it requires class and assurance.’

‘It's not incompatible with seduction, I'm sure others will do the same thing.’

    ‘I don’t think so... ’

‘Ay sister, you’re always so modest and formal, but in this life you have to make hay while the sun shines.’

    ‘You may be right.’

‘Of course I am! How has it helped you to be so formal and have such long relationships? In the end you have broken up too, if it doesn’t work it doesn’t work, period, it’s absurd to prolong it.’

‘Let's not get mixed up, my love life is one thing and looking for work is something completely different.’

‘What you learn with men can be applied to many things.’

‘Well, it's not that you've had much luck in that aspect, your relationships have never lasted any time at all’

‘Hahaha, I already told you that relationships should last only as long as it’s fun, if the men get boring then throw ‘em out!’

    ‘How radical!’

‘Nah, it's just better to look for something else.’

‘And what about stability? When will you settle down?’

‘Do you think I haven’t tried? I already told you that they are all pigs, they only think about one thing.’

‘And what do you recommend for the man at the interview tomorrow?’ Tatiana asked between laughs.

‘The same as the others, don’t back down. Captivate him, you'll have him in the palm of your hand and he’ll give you the position.’

    ‘I don’t know if I can pretend... ’

‘I’m sure he’ll be the typical fatty with too much money that lusts after his secretaries, you won’t have to work so hard.’

    ‘What do you mean?’

‘That you’re sexy, sister! Just give him a look, a smile... and zas!’

‘Hahaha, at least with you I have a good time.’

‘I already told you it's nothing to worry about.’

‘Uh, yes it is. I really need a job.’

‘Tatiana, I already told you that if you need money... ’

‘No, I don’t want it, I have to sort this out myself.’

‘Okay, but as for tomorrow's interview, don’t worry - if you think that they’re going to treat you badly just leave it.’

    ‘I don’t know what to expect… everything’s a mess...’

‘Tell me about it, at the hairdresser’s they owe me money too.’

    ‘Really? They’re not paying you?

    ‘Overtime, they think they’re clever….’

    ‘What are they doing?’

‘Well, because things aren’t going so well, we always close half an hour later than we’re supposed to and of course, I have to take all the work that comes.’

‘So you're doing a few hours for free every week.’

    ‘Yep.’

‘But have you told them to pay you?’

‘What do you think? Of course, but they say they will, they will...’

    ‘Always next week, right?’

‘Yeah, the boss is a bitch. But it’s hard to say anything to her with things as bad as they are.’

    ‘Ay sister, I'm getting stressed.’

‘OK ok, let’s change the subject. Have you seen anyone you liked the look of lately?’

‘Haha, you don’t waste time like me, do you!’

‘Come on woman, it's been three months since you told your last boyfriend to go to hell, he was an idiot…’

‘Don’t talk about Jonathan like that! The poor guy was having a bad time, our relationship didn’t work out but he was a good boy.’

‘He was such a boring guy though, always silent - come on little sister, we are flesh and blood but he was, like, frozen.’

‘Hahaha alright, alright; he had his virtues too.’

‘I don’t know, I'm sure all of him was frozen…’

‘Hahaha! Elsa, you're the worst... ’

‘Hahaha! Yes, yes, but I'm not wrong, am I?’

That night Tatiana slept better, talking to her sister Elsa always relaxed her. Although they had completely opposite worldviews, they got along well and always helped one another, they had been inseparable from a very young age.

The next day, she took the bus and at 8:50 found herself in front of the Generations magazine office; she crossed her fingers and entered without hesitation.

    Chapter 2.1

‘Good morning, I'm Tatiana Quinn and I have an interview with Mr. Troy Hamilton at nine o'clock,’ she said to the receptionist, ‘I was told to ask for Miss Christine Berne.’

‘One moment please, let me look look up your name in the database. Yes, here it is.’

    ‘Ah, perfect.’

The receptionist picked up the phone. ‘Miss Berne, a candidate has arrived for the interview with Mr. Hamilton.’

‘Great, I'll be there in a moment.’

‘Good morning! I'm Christine Berne, human resources’. The woman walking towards Tatiana was tall and dark. She shook her hand. ‘Please follow me.’

‘Yes, of course.’ That attractive young woman led Christine to the director’s door. Troy Hamilton. Once there, she tapped gently twice and said:

‘Mr. Hamilton, the new candidate has arrived for the interview.’

‘Good, come in.’ Tatiana was nervous and shaking, she swallowed and tried to calm herself. Christine Berne opened the door of the office and Tatiana went inside. It was huge and had large windows that showed a magnificent landscape of the city. In the center was the director, waiting at his desk with his chin resting on his interlaced fingers. At first, the light that entered through the large windows made it impossible to see his face, only a silhouette, but as Tatiana’s eyes adjusted to the light she was able to see him clearly.

No fat and slimy boss sat there, quite the opposite; before her she had an imposing adonis. Troy Hamilton was a tall, handsome man, well-built, dark, and seductive.

‘Good morning Tatiana, I see that you are the same as in the photograph on your resumé.’

‘Of course, how could it be otherwise’ she replied with a slight smile.

‘Sometimes photographs are deceptive, I don’t like that. How should I address you, as Mrs. or Miss?’

    ‘Miss, please.’

‘Good, Miss Tatiana’. Troy Hamilton got up from his desk. ‘Let me get up and walk around while we talk, I've been here since 6 because I had work to do, please excuse me.’

    ‘Don’t worry.’

‘In this company we are looking for someone who knows how to obey orders and remain silent.’

    ‘That's me’ said Tatiana confidently.

‘Magnificent, that's the image you conveyed to me when you walked in the door.’ Troy Hamilton kept walking while talking to Tatiana, and she could see the fantastic ass he had. Maybe it would not be so easy to impress a man like him.

‘I'm going to leave the technical questions aside, the most important thing is to get to know you.’

    ‘Me?’

‘Yes, you. I'm going to be honest, I liked your image, in your photo. This is a fashion magazine, and those of us who work here believe in the power of images.’

    ‘Oh, I understand.’

‘I don’t want you to see me as a superficial man, I'm just strict and disciplined in this regard. The magazine belongs to our readers, not to us.’

    ‘I agree.’

‘Perfect, that's why I want the people who work here to take care with their appearance.’

‘I take care of my image.’

‘I don’t doubt it, but maybe you need more style’ said Hamilton, looking Tatiana up and down.

‘Excuse me, am I not properly dressed?’ she asked, thinking about the short, tight dress she was wearing, and those stilettos… she shouldn’t have listened to Elsa...

‘For the office we need something more formal, but I'm impressed that you've made such an effort.’

‘Oh, excuse me, I didn’t know that... ’

‘There's nothing to excuse!’ Tatiana fell silent, she thought she had screwed everything up.

‘When a person strives as hard as you, I can only say, ‘bravo!’ I need people like that!’

Despite that small triumph, Tatiana was nervous - so far Troy Hamilton hadn’t asked her any questions, she had just let him get on with his monologue. Surely the difficult part would come now.

‘I didn’t mention particulars about the job in the offer, I want you to be my secretary.’

    ‘Am I hired?’

‘I didnt say that, if we select you.’

    ‘Oh, forgive my clumsiness.’

‘Don’t worry, but in this position you cannot show awkwardness, I'm sorry but no, every minute that is lost is irretrievable.’

‘ I will be an efficient worker.’

‘That's what I wanted to hear.’

‘I want you to know that I will do what you ask of me.’

‘Perfect, just what I wanted, you can go now. Christine Berne will give you a questionnaire to fill in and return to her.’ Tatiana got up and said:

    ‘Great, thanks for your time.’

    ‘You're welcome... ’

‘... and you're hired’ Hamilton finished.

    ‘Really?’ She asked in amazement.

‘Fill in the form, Christine will give it to you.’

‘Of course, of course.’ Tatiana was mad with happiness, she filled out the sheets that Christine Berne gave her.

Then they told her that she would begin the next day at nine o'clock. At that moment, Mr. Hamilton entered the room.

‘Tatiana, I have decided that tomorrow you can wait at home until I ask you to come. I have things pending.’

    ‘Certainly, sir.’

‘Perfect, I think we'll get along.’

    ‘Have a nice day!’

    ‘The same to you.’

Tatiana couldn’t believe it, she had been hired! And the boss was fit! In the end it was she who looked at him with pure lasciviousness; what a man! He seemed so sure of himself, his voice was so serious, his tone sharp and authoritarian. Maybe he was a despot, or perhaps a discipline lover.

Could it be true that he worked from six in the morning? If so, she could expect some hard days ahead… But based on what she had seen so far, Tatiana was willing to do anything.

That night she could not forget his first words, with that square jaw and his serious countenance:

‘Should I call you Mrs. or Miss?’

‘Miss, and… I am at your beck and call.’

‘I hoped it would be like that.’

‘What do you want from me?’

    ‘I want everything, right now.’

‘And I'll give it to you!’ Her imagination was spinning, so much so that she only fell asleep two hours later.

She rested enough, and when the alarm clock went off at eight o'clock, she jumped out of bed like a bolt of lightning, showered, put on makeup, put on her clothes, in short made herself look as smart as possible, and ate breakfast. She kept looking compulsively in the mirror to check her reflection and also at the clock, waiting for Mr. Hamilton's call; but then the doorbell rang. She pressed the buzzer and said:

    ‘Who is it?’

    ‘It's me Tatiana, your boss.’

    ‘Mr. Hamilton!’

‘I've come to pick you up, please hurry.’

‘Yes, of course sir, I’m coming now.’ She was astonished - the boss had come to pick her up - but the surprises had not finished yet. When she opened the door, there was a gleaming white limousine in front of the house and the driver was waiting for her with the door open! Tatiana approached, her face a picture of surprise.

‘Thank you’ she said to the driver who was waiting for her.

‘We must hurry, Tatiana’ Troy said from the inside, ‘we have an important meeting.’

‘Oh, it wasn’t necessary for you to come to pick me up, I'm impressed.’

‘Do I make you feel embarrassed?’ Even he was surprised by the question.

    ‘A little bit.’

‘There’s nothing to worry about, you can even use my first name.’

    ‘Okay, sir, but... ’

‘I said that you can use my first name, don’t make me tell you a third time.’

    ‘Sorry, err... Troy.’

    ‘Much better.’

    ‘This limousine is... very pretty.’

‘I wanted to give you a lesson about what we talked about yesterday, you know, style and class.’

    ‘A lesson?’

‘Yes, Tatiana, as of today you work for a fashion magazine, where image is everything.’

‘I see, of course - I learn quickly.’

‘That’s great, Tatiana. Has anyone ever told you that you are very pretty?

‘Oh, you’ll make me blush, Troy; sometimes.’

‘You're very pretty Tatiana, and it's one of the reasons you're here, but it's not the only one. I need someone with a distinguished image, for the clients.’

‘I'll do everything you tell me, sir.’

    ‘Sir again!’

‘Sorry... Troy, it was a mistake.’

    ‘You can’t make mistakes.’

    ‘I won’t make mistakes.’

‘That's the attitude’ Troy said triumphantly.

‘Are we going to go to the office every day in a limousine?’

‘Hahaha, no, don’t get used to it.’

‘Oh, of course not, I was planning to come by bus.’

They arrived at work and Troy accompanied Tatiana to her office, gave her the necessary instructions for her new job and to conclude told her:

‘I will take care of everything related to today's meeting; you order my notes, which I will pass on as soon as I can. I want to ask you a question.’

‘Yes, sir?’ Tatiana noticed her mistake, ‘Oh, sorry, yes?’

‘I like it when you correct yourself’ Troy said, smiling and stroking Tatiana's chin with the fingers of his right hand; the gesture made her nervous.

‘What question did you have for me?’

‘Do you have a partner, are you going out with anyone? I mean, a serious commitment of a romantic kind, you know.’

‘Why do you ask? It's quite a personal question.’

‘I'm not interested in your personal life, only your professional qualities.’

    ‘I know, Troy, that's why... ’

‘I want to know if you have sentimental commitments because tomorrow I would like to invite you to dinner and I don’t want to get you into trouble.’ Tatiana couldn’t believe what she was hearing - first Troy had brought her to work in a limousine and now he wanted to invite her to dinner.

‘No, I'm single, no partner, no boyfriend, free as the wind.’

‘Perfect, this dinner will help us to clarify our positions.’ Clarify positions? The boss was telling Tatiana that he was inviting
