Selection of a Partner
Selection of a partner can be difficult, and it varies with culture and society. Choosing a partner is very complex from daily restlessness of uncertainties, to thinking about family acceptance of the chosen individual. Acceptance of people can sometimes be an issue in many cultures. Some families are still in control of who the children marry, the race of the person, or the region the person comes from because of experiences or history.
Looking around the world in this new age, I can say confidently that love is no longer the basis for selecting a spouse or partner. When love is secondary, physical attraction is mostly the key
in terms of body physique, especially facial appearance and good looks are usually the point of focus. What is considered attractive in one culture and society may not be desirable in another. Like the common adage that says beauty is in the eyes of the beholder,
people around the world have different views and opinions about beauty. Some African societies consider thick (big) women to be attractive whereas in the western culture, heavy set women are usually labeled unhealthy. Physical appearance based on individual preferences varies for instance, the type of body shape desired in today’s society
