In days gone by, children had far less distractions to engage in during leisure time. Entertainment meant playing games, both indoors and outdoors with friends, taking part in festivities and listening to stories told by elders, particularly the grandparents. And what wonderful tales they were! Myths, morals and madcap adventures were all woven into Folktales and packaged with attractive goodies like catchy rhymes, pithy proverbs, intriguing puzzles, jolly jokes and much playacting. Skills of survival, common sense and nuggets of worldly wisdom were also taught to children through such stories. Having experienced the unparalleled joy of listening to tales told by grandparents, uncles and nannies, we felt it was almost a Duty to pass them on to our own grandchildren. And to children of all ages who enjoy a carefree break. Presenting here, a collection of tales, narrated to us by people of the early 20th century who carried accumulated memories from medieval times in their blood. We enjoyed pickling those memories.
