    CHAPTER 1

It was early in the morning. Peter drove up to the little lingerie shop on the main road. He pulled up and looked at the shop. Okay, which one did you fancy? David groaned. Oh heck, that woman is moving everything around! It was right in front. Red. With little black bows. Peter groaned as he switched the ignition off. I don’t believe you are making me do this. Peter shook his head and smiled. What size? Thirty four.

Peter hopped out of the car and headed inside the shop. He smiled as he heard the dainty little bell announcing his entrance into the shop. Peter looked up at the most amazing woman he had ever seen. She had a perfect little figure. She wore a white linen suit made up of a tight fitting white pencil skirt with a little slit at the back and a white jacket with the sleeves carefully rolled up, with a black blouse. She wore black stilettos and a tiny little black belt. She wore black hose which appealed to Peter. Her bangles were black and white to complement the outfit. She had blonde hair cut in a short bob, neatly blow waved. Peter hadn’t seen her face yet. The rest didn’t matter. What he had seen was already impressive

Glenda stood in the shop window. She stood putting a huge sticker on the inside of the window. She opened her legs a little and balanced herself in her stilettos. She stretched to each corner. Glenda sighed as she heard the little bell ring. Bronwyn. I’m glad you are early. Can you come here I am sort of stuck. It was all quiet. Just lift my skirt a little on either side otherwise I am going to rip this seam. Peter never said a word. He walked behind Glenda and lifted her skirt a fraction up her leg on either side. Peter grinned as he watched the woman in the window. She was absolutely beautiful. He could see right through her skirt and now he could see even more leg. The sun shone through her skirt and outlined her gorgeous legs. Bronwyn. Will you get here? Peter walked over. Sure. Glenda spun around and the sticker started falling. Glenda looked at Peter and tripped over one of the mannequins in the window. The arm of the mannequin hit her against the side of the head. Glenda groaned as she landed on her bottom. She got up and stared at Peter. You couldn’t just put your hand out and hold it! No! You just had to stand there and stare! Peter backtracked and walked out. He whispered. I’m sorry. I’m sorry. He walked straight out and hopped in to the car. Glenda groaned. Oh darn! Glenda closed her eyes and pinched her nose.

Glenda heard the bell ring again and yelled. Just get out will you! Bronwyn came around the corner. Uhm. If you so wish. Glenda groaned. Sorry Bronwyn. Glenda stepped out of the window and grabbed her handbag. I will be back. Bronwyn nodded as Glenda walked out. Please do something with the window. Bronwyn nodded and stared at the mess in the window.

Peter watched as Glenda stepped out of the shop and walked towards the coffee shop. He got out of the car again and walked back in to the shop. Bronwyn smiled. How can I help you? Peter smiled. You had a red pair of pyjamas in the window. Red with little black bows. Do you still have any of those? Bronwyn nodded. The negligee set, what size? Thirty four. Bronwyn nodded. Give me one minute.

Teresa walked in. Hey Bronnie. I am here. Bronwyn called from the store room. With you in a minute. Teresa smiled. Good morning. Peter smiled. Good morning. Teresa walked to the window. Bronwyn. Don’t tell me. You tried to change the window. Not me. And Glenda stormed out of here. Teresa looked at the window. Did she cut herself? There is blood all over. Bronwyn walked over to the till and put the set into a box and then in to a bag. Peter paid for his purchases. Thank you. Bronwyn nodded. Bronnie. There’s blood all over this box. Where is Glenda? Bronwyn sighed. I was five minutes late so I think she is chilling over a cup of coffee. Teresa nodded.

Probably that idiot of a boyfriend of hers. When it is no, it is no. What doesn’t he understand? Peter listened to the conversation. He knows she is not interested. But no. He keeps pestering. He is so creepy. I wish someone would beat him up. Now, now, Teresa. Don’t be so nasty. Teresa turned around. Are you sure Glenda is all right. She must have hurt herself. Phone her. Bronwyn picked up the phone and dialled Glenda. She put it on to speaker phone. What! Soooory. Are you okay? Apart from falling on my butt. And making an absolute fool of myself in front of a gorgeous hunk. And then tearing my thigh high. And ending up with a gash on my head I’d say I am pretty okay. And you? Bronwyn giggled. Can we help? Yes. See the red beamer. Yes. Phone me when it is gone. Gotcha. Bronwyn smiled. She’s fine. Bronwyn cut the call.

Peter slowly headed out of the shop with a smile on his face. He got in the car with the package and gave it to David. Thanks. Peter grinned. And thanks to you the little lady of the shop is not happy with me. What did you do? It’s what I didn’t do. And what didn’t you do? Peter shook his head. I saw her standing in the window. I stared. I wanted to take the woman in my arms and push her up against that window and have my way with her. David roared with laughter. But you didn’t. No. Instead I let her fall and hurt herself. David shook his head and laughed. Not funny David. She cut her head open. David looked at Peter in shock. Where is she? I don’t know. Bronwyn picked up the phone. Beamer is gone. Thanks. I am at the hospital. I don’t need stitches after all. Just a little plaster. Okay. See you in a while. Yeah. A little later.

Peter scanned the street as he drove. If you spot her, tell me. Who? The pretty little blonde from the shop. She wears her hair in a little bob. Just beneath her chin. Pretty little thing. David nodded and grinned. Peter sighed. I feel so rotten. And she asked for help. Peter groaned. Next time you buy your own lingerie. David shook his head. I don’t go in to stores like that. But it is okay for me to go in? You have more guts than me. Peter shook his head. He searched the streets as he drove. He couldn’t get her out of his mind. He didn’t even know what she looked like. All he could remember was her huge eyes.

They headed over to the restaurant where Peter worked. Peter walked over to his office and sat down. David drove out to his offices. Peter phoned the florist and ordered the biggest bouquet there was. He felt awful. He asked for a mixed arrangement of flowers hoping they would brighten Glenda’s day. And what would you like the card to read? Peter sat and thought. How can I apologise? I am so sorry. Peter. With my cell phone number under that. Right Sir. Can we deliver these now? Yes, please. As soon as you can.

Glenda headed back to the shop. She walked in and looked at everyone. I’m fine. A little scratch. Nothing really bad. Teresa and Bronwyn both nodded. So what is the problem with the red beamer? Glenda nodded. He got out of the red beamer. Bronwyn nodded and smiled. Who? Glenda groaned. The awesome hunk. Teresa grinned. Oh I wouldn’t worry that much about him. He bought one of those little hot red numbers so I am sure he won’t be too worried. Probably thinking about his girlfriend all the time. Glenda smirked. Probably for his wife. Teresa chuckled. No wedding band. Glenda nodded her head. Right. I can’t believe that. All the good ones are taken. Every single one.

Glenda walked out of the shop and looked at the window. Bronwyn had put a lovely set of lingerie in the window. It was a sheer black outfit. She smiled as she walked back inside. She turned as a delivery man walked through with a huge bouquet of flowers. I’m looking for Glenda. Glenda nodded and signed for the flowers. She took them and winced. She handed them to Bronwyn. Check that card. If they are from Johnny they are going straight back. Bronwyn took out the card and read it out loud. Glenda smiled and took the flowers and the note. Thank you. I’ll have that. Teresa chuckled. That is the sweetest thing ever.

Glenda took the flowers and walked over to the little kitchen and put her flowers in water. She smiled as she took a little whiff. She walked over to her little office and dialled the number on the card from her cell phone. She listened for a while as the message came on. It was a deep voice. Glenda almost groaned as she listened. Hi. I wanted to say thanks. So. Uhm. Thanks. Peter. Glenda blushed as she cut the call.

Peter came out of his meeting and switched his cell phone on. He looked at the missed call flashing on his screen and listened to the message. He immediately dialled. He listened to Glenda’s message. He did groan as he listened. Her voice was as beautiful as her body. Peter smiled as he left a message. I’m sorry I missed your call. If you are free for a cup of coffee some time soon I’d like to apologise in person. I’m really, really sorry. It’s just I don’t come across such beautiful women every day. And I was. Uhm. Spellbound.

Glenda came back in to her office and picked up her cell phone. She sighed as she saw the flashing sign showing a missed call. She dialled and listened. She had a huge smile. Should I, or shouldn’t I? Teresa walked past. You should. Glenda chuckled and closed her door. She dialled again. Peter McGregor. Glenda took a deep breath. Peter, hi. Oh my gosh! Glenda giggled. I didn’t think you would answer. I am glad I got hold of you. Peter smiled as he listened. Uhm. Thank you. The flowers. They are beautiful. Peter smiled. I’m so sorry. I don’t know how to apologise. Don’t. I was just out of sorts and shouldn’t have been in that window anyhow. Peter grinned. I disagree. Glenda chuckled. Anyway. I hope your wife likes her lingerie. Peter chuckled. Oh they aren’t for my wife. They are for my brother’s wife. Glenda nodded and was suddenly quiet. Oh well, whoever’s wife then. I am sure she will love them. You should have bought two of the same. Thanks Peter. Bye. Glenda cut the call and promptly burst into tears.

Peter stared at the phone and groaned. Oh man. That didn’t sound right at all. Peter got up and paced. Glenda wiped her tears and took the flowers and walked outside to the front of the shop. She dumped the flowers in the bin. Teresa and Bronwyn were quiet as they watched. Glenda walked back inside and headed through to her office and picked up her bag. She walked out. I am out and gone. Teresa and Bronwyn stared.

Glenda couldn’t stop crying. She walked over to her car and hopped in. She drove home and walked straight to her bedroom and lay on the bed. She cried herself to sleep. She had had the worst day ever. Everything had gone wrong.

Peter walked out of his office and got into his car and drove over to the lingerie shop. He spotted the flowers and walked in. Hi. Glenda. Is she here? Bronwyn smiled and shook her head. She left a little while ago. I don’t think she has had a good day at all. Peter nodded. That makes two of us. Teresa smiled. I don’t know what has gotten in to her today. I am sure she will be back tomorrow. Peter nodded. Can you give me her address? Teresa looked at Bronwyn. They both shook their heads. Peter let out a deep sigh. Guess that is not a good idea. Bronwyn smiled. That your beamer? Peter nodded and whispered. Unfortunately. Bronwyn chuckled and shook her head. Peter stood and stared at the window. Where does she go? What does she do? In her spare time. After hours. Teresa smiled. She doesn’t actually have any spare time. I am surprised we saw her today. But she stays at home and reads sometimes. Or she goes horse riding. She keeps herself busy. Peter nodded.

And you aren’t going to give me any more info are you? Teresa chuckled and shook her head. No Mister. It’s Peter. Teresa grinned. Peter of the flowers? Peter nodded. Peter of the flowers. I don’t know what you said Peter. She was all smiles and then she walked out of here in tears. Peter held his head in his hands. I am going nuts for someone I don’t even know. He headed out of the shop. Peter groaned and took the flowers out of the bin. He walked back inside. He handed the flowers to Bronwyn. Please put these in a vase. Please. They are dying out there. Bronwyn nodded and smiled. The flowers were all wrecked. Sure. And put them in her office? Peter nodded. Show me her office.

Bronwyn chuckled as she led him through. He looked at the vase and took the flowers from Bronwyn and put the flowers back in the vase. He walked over to her desk. He took her notepad and wrote. ‘Glenda. What can I say? Sorry again? Peter’. As he moved the notepad he touched her mouse and the PC came on. Peter looked up and smiled. Well, well, well. It was on her e-Mail which she had forgotten to shut down. Peter quickly wrote her e-Mail address down. He got up again and walked out.

Thank you. Teresa and Bronwyn nodded. Anything else for you today? Peter smiled. A muzzle maybe. And a silencer. And maybe a case of laryngitis would have been good. Bronwyn nodded. That bad? Peter nodded. Oh, ten times worse. Teresa chuckled as Peter headed out.

Bronwyn leaned over the counter. Teresa, I rather like him. He is well dressed. Groomed. Well spoken. Just what Glenda needs. Someone just like her. Bronwyn nodded. I think she is pretty shaken. Because he really is hot. Teresa nodded. We should have given him the address. Bronwyn chuckled. Next time. Teresa shook her head and grinned.

Peter went back to the restaurant. He picked up his cell phone and put it down again. He picked it up and phoned the lingerie shop. Who is that? Bronwyn. Bronwyn. It’s Peter. What is Glenda’s surname? McGree. McGree, as in McGree. "Yes. But she isn’t
