    Introduction

    Imagine a world where your negative thoughts will not stop. They continue racing even after you close your eyes and prepare to sleep. The more you try to relax, the faster these thoughts come. The harder you try to NOT think about things, the more they are present in your mind.

    You are thinking about your bills, your mortgage, and the upcoming car payment. You are wondering if you remembered to turn off the burner on the stove. You think you did, but you get up to check anyway. While you are in the kitchen, you wonder if you remembered to lock the front door. Even though you are sure that you did, you recheck it anyway. This leads you to wonder if you closed the garage door, so you double check that also.

    Before you head back into the bedroom, you stop and peak in at your sleeping children. You worry about them also. What if they get tangled up in the blankets and can’t breathe? What if they call out in the night and you don’t hear them?
