About this audiobook
Learn to Meditate - The Metta Bhavava contains two easy-to-follow meditation classes that have been created to introduce and progress this powerful loving kindness meditation to those with little or no experience.
The first Learn to Meditate - Metta Bhavana class runs for 42 minutes whilst the second is a 20 minute quick version of the practice ideal to use if you do not have time for the longer session. Both begin with a body awareness section which works to focus your mind onto your body and especially your heart centre. You are then guided through the meditation practice in 5 clear stages, as you develop, then send your loving kindness outwards in wider, and wider circles. At the end of each class, you are encouraged to sit quietly for a few moments to absorb the effects of the meditation and slowly reorient your awareness.
With regular practice, Metta (loving kindness) can be developed and grown (Bhavana) into a very strong emotion that has the potential to affect every aspect of your life and interactions with others. Whilst cultivating loving kindness towards others you will be wishing them well but in the process you’re changing yourself. You’re cultivating the habit of being loving, and in time and with practice, reflection, and discipline this percolates through into your actions.
The classes are devised and instructed by Rae Roberts. Rae is an internationally renowned meditation teacher who has practiced, studied and taught various meditation techniques for more than 30 years. Her easy-to-follow expert instructions are combined with subtle background soundscapes that set the perfect mood for the practice.
