About this audiobook

“A MASTERPIECE OF THRILLER AND MYSTERY. Blake Pierce did a magnificent job developing characters with a psychological side so well described that we feel inside their minds, follow their fears and cheer for their success. Full of twists, this book will keep you awake until the turn of the last page.”

HER LAST WISH (A Rachel Gift FBI Suspense Thriller—Book 1) is the debut novel in a long-anticipated new series by #1 bestseller and USA Today bestselling author Blake Pierce, whose bestseller Once Gone (a free download) has received over 1,000 five star reviews.

FBI Agent Rachel Gift, 33, unparalleled for her ability to enter the minds of serial killers, is a rising star in the Behavioral Crimes Unit—until a routine doctor visit reveals she has but a few months left to live.

Not wishing to burden others with her pain, Rachel decides, agonizing as it is, not to tell anyone—not even her boss, her partner, her husband, or her seven-year-old daughter. She wants to go down fighting, and to take as many serial killers with her as she can.

A serial killer strikes in the Virginia area, targeting women who seek fertility treatments. As Rachel enters his sick and twisted mind, she struggles to understand his motive, or the connection between the victims.

Worse, the case strikes too close to home, bringing up memories of her own fertility treatments, and her failed mission to have a second child. As she seeks insight from a diabolical, jailed serial killer, she immediately realizes it’s a mistake. Can he see right through her?

Can Rachel keep her secret and keep her deteriorating health at bay long enough to finish the job? Can she fulfill her own bucket list before she dies? And can she keep herself from descending down the dark hole of her own traumatic past?

A riveting and chilling crime thriller featuring a brilliant and flailing FBI agent, the RACHEL GIFT series is an unputdownable mystery, packed with suspense, twists and shocking secrets, propelled by a page-turning pace that will keep you bleary-eyed late into the night.

Books #2 and #3 in the series—HER LAST CHANCE and HER LAST HOPE—are also available.

Couldn't finish the story as the narrator's tone was too soft and distracting and didn't match the theme of the story. It was too hard to focus on the story.

So hard to keep up with the story due to the narrator’s tone; makes it so hard to comprehend. I should stop listening to this audiobook.

Enjoyed the story but the narration was terrible. The “th” added to the end of words and other confusing issues. Very distracting. I actually couldn’t believe this was professional reading. Odd

No disrespect to Ms Sarah but please can this book be re-narrated by someone else. Less than 10 Min in and I just couldn't anymore. It's so difficult to keep up with inflictions and pronounciations in & on all the incorrect words and places.

Not a very go story and the worst of it was the narration. Sexy, whispered voice that isn't good for this novel type... Stick to romance novels ms. Sarah. There is a lisp on the end of words with d's and t's that kills my brain as well.

As everyone has said the narration is terrible - the lisp on al the words that end in T or D is so annoying and the location names in the Richmond area are mispronounced. Could not get past the 2nd chapter.

LOVE BLAKE PIERCE! CAN'T STAND THE NARRATION! Could only listen for 15 minutes and gave up. This narrator has an annoying inflection, she adds a TH at the ends of words that end with Ts, or Ds. I'm sure this story is amazing but there is no way I can listen to her voice! I even tried to speed up the narration but no, it didn't work. I have listened to everything Blake Pierce has written and that is available on this platform. I hope she never uses this narrator on any upcoming series.

I’m so sad!!! I was so looking forward to this one but I can’t LISTEN ANYMORE!!! Not even a chapter! Ugh

I don’t know if it’s the narrator’s audio equipment or a lisp, but I was quite distracted. Every time a phrase ended with the letters S, T, or D, there was a sharp “TH” sound…like “husbanTH” or “suspecTH”. It took effort for me to focus on the storyline.

    *** Writing was great ***
So the writing itself is great! The audio book would have been AMAZING if they would have chosen a professional narrator. If I could say anything to the narrator it would be this... PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD NEVER, EVER NARRATE ANOTHER BOOK AGAIN. The atrocious hack job that is the voice of the person (I'm convinced half serpent) speaking this book aloud has thrown me into a tizzy!

Please!!!!!!! Make sure you choose a suitable narrator for the sake of your devoted readers/listeners in the future!

    Sincerely,

A woman that doesn't like whispered, breathy, overacted (Britishish) accent, parseltongue sounding, wannabe-fairygodmother imitating narrators... ESPECIALLY when they are reading an otherwise fantastic crime/thriller

    Booooo.

(Sorry if you're the narrator. But there is some kindness to the truth ?‍♀️)

I'm glad I'm not the only one to notice this, but I'll put my two cents in. The narrator was atrocious!!! It took me awhile to figure out why. I finally figured out she's attempting to read the book like one of those "ASMR" people on YouTube. It's absolutely horrific to listen to. I'm still listening because I'm really enjoying the book but the narrator is really making it hard to continue.
