About this audiobook
Even witches can’t outrun their curses.
Nadine
My magic’s been awakened, but being a witch is a death-wish. I’m the only Curse Breaker alive, and if the coven found out, they’d turn on me. I must hide who I truly am to ensure my freedom.
There’s a witch in town intent on driving me out of my home. Chloe has stepped up her mean-girl tactics, but I refuse to leave Octavia Falls. I must find a way to break the curse over our families before her powers are awakened.
As if one curse wasn’t enough. I’m on the verge of becoming the Reaper’s Shadow, the cursed mate of a Reaper’s Apprentice. Being with Lucas should be easy. I just have to outrun my darkness long enough to break the curse...
Lucas
Two children have gone missing from the coven, and no magic can find them. I want to help, but I don't know how.
The only way to get my hands on information is to pursue my own investigation.
Meanwhile, I fear that I’ve damned Nadine to a cursed life. If only I could keep my hands off her long enough to save her from death.

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5While I’m enjoying the story, the narration is bothersome to me when the man reads the female voice, it’s too falsetto in my opinion. Otherwise it’s been a good listen.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5So I am only in the mid-still beginning of the book, however I need to say one thing now. I am extremely impressed with how the candle reading symbolism was interpreted. Even though Lucas claimed to be BSing, from the patterns described it was extremely accurate from how we do wax reading in real life!
In the previous book, I was impressed by some of the tarot card meanings, however the death card is not always a bad omen. I understand the literalism that it was trying to show, however that card is usually about breaking a cycle, rather that actual death or omens of death.
So far though, I have been able to separate myself from reality, as I understand what the author is going for. I am very pleased with the diversity of occult studies in these books, as well as plot, character, and emotional growth that some are displaying.
I also love the "real life" aspect of how some of the relationships and traumatic events play out. Especially how one can let themselve slip into an unhealthy or controlling situation without seeing any of the signs themselves.
Last point, I really enjoy that Nadine is not the perfect person. I would never want anyone to be diagnosed with an autoimmune disorder, but that imperfection shows that she is human. She has limits. Autoimmune disorders are horrible at the best of times, but I enjoy that the heroine of the story has to weigh that real life disease with her battles and studies.
Especially as I suffer an autoimmune disorder myself, so I can really put myself in Nadine's shoes. - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Great story not a fan of the male voice. Did great at different male voices, however when doing the female it was just odd. This is the second book in the series and several times you hear kids and voices in the background. Creepy especially when it gets to a steamy part and then you hear voices haha. Don’t listen with AirPods on lol.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Cool book with enough twists and turns to keep one interested aimed more at a younger adult with some very adult material.
