About this audiobook

The most valuable lesson Emerson Moore ever learned was from her parents: never get too attached to someone else. That’s why this hard-partying college student plays by her own code of bedroom conduct, refusing to stay with the same guy for too long. She gets all the pleasure of having a good time without the messiness of a relationship. So what if frat house–hopping has earned her a certain reputation around campus? At least no one gets hurt this way—especially her.

When ridiculously gorgeous Jaxon Riley moves in next door, Emerson’s not sure how long her vow against emotional intimacy can last. Jaxon’s tattoo, muscles, and sexy voice make him tempting, but he also seems to really understand her…until his jealous ex-girlfriend and Emerson’s life-changing discovery about her parents get thrown into the mix. After everything she’s been through, can Emerson handle a real relationship? Or will breaking her rules just lead to a broken heart?

College student Emerson Moore has a hard and fast set of rules for relationships -- mainly: avoid them like the plague. She won't sleep with any guy more than three times, to prevent attachment of any kind. So far, Emerson has had great success with this, and she's having fun. Then Emerson meets Jaxon - when he and his twin brother, Jace, move in with Emerson's best friend, Cole. Emerson quickly becomes close to Jaxon. Is he the one who will turn her set of rules on its head?

This book had promise and it was a quick read, but overall, I just found it ridiculous and the writing was terrible - stilted and juvenile. It reminded me of something a middle schooler would write (though hopefully they wouldn't stray into this sexualized subject matter). Emerson is a college student absolutely determined not to have a relationship based on the fact that her parents split -- she has certainly had trauma in her life to cause her feelings, but her insane attachment to this gets to be a little silly. She is a poor communicator and a frustrating protagonist. The character development is nil and we're basically just told things about her and the rest of the characters, rather than shown them, or allowed to see things develop on their own.

Furthermore, some of the stereotypes in this book are beyond frustrating. Emerson's willingness to embrace being the school "slut" (a word she seems to have no problem with) is awful. When Jaxon enters the scene, no one seems to have an issue with his insane over-protectiveness and anger issues. It would be one thing if this was written somewhat cheekily, a la "Twilight," but these characters genuinely seem to think their actions and motivations are okay. The end result is a portrayal of college as nothing but sexual encounters with a mix of sexual harassment and domestic abuse thrown in. It all overshadows what could be a decent story (girl with commitment issues meets handsome guy with shadowy past). There were certainly some bright spots, but overall it just left me feeling too icky.

i pretty much enjoy this book.i didn’t read any more book of this series, so i don’t know how the next book going to be. This book talk about a girl who have a reputation that is she almost have sex with every guy in these school. But she had her own rules, like no sex with her friend’s boy friend, ex, or crush, and don’t have sex with one guy over 3 times, she live with her rules her entire time, except one boys, a new boy who from Texas, her best friend’s friend, he had a twin, move next to her apartment. She have sex with him three times, but this time she wants to have more, she love him, and he love her, but she not brave enough to break the rules that she built in to protect herself. This book is amazing?

I am almost at a loss of words with this book. I was able to feel so many emotions. The story is the right mixture of predictable and unpredictable that it makes you smile. You almost know how things will turn out, but the journey getting to the end is painful. This book brought on some tears… which I love! Books that bring out emotions in the reader are a thumbs-up in my book.

Now, I am not saying that everything will turn out the way you want. What I am saying is that getting to the end of this story is a journey. A journey that will have you up and down throughout the book. There are parts that will rip your heart out. There are parts where you want to reach into the book and smack some sense into the characters. There is something serene about characters who are stubborn and unwilling to bend themselves, even when they feel themselves breaking down. Their journeys are their own, and you will get lost in them.

I have read some of the past reviews of this book. I do agree with some that there are parts that seem to drag on and one wants to skip to them to get to the fun stuff. Just hold on tight. Although these parts are kind of sappy, they make the book as a whole. Sometimes you need a little sappy mixed with the drama and pain. It all evens out in the end!!
Would I recommend this book? Absolutely. I almost loved it. There is no rhyme or reason why I didn’t LOVE it, but I am close to loving it. This definitely is a good read. It won’t take long to read it. And you won’t be disappointed for doing so.

I loved this book! Emerson has a 'I don't give a shit' attitude -especially about her sexual prowless . Jaxon well he is the full package- hot, motorcycle riding football player. When Jaxon first meets Emerson it's epic. He has his work cut out for him with Emerson because her heart it locked tighter than Fort Knox . Finally when things seem to be going great for these two it all comes crashing down and when it does it will bring tears to your eyes it's that heat breaking. Fabulous ending .
