Miles from home. Trust no one. Suspect everyone.
Orla and Kate have been best friends forever. Together they’ve faced it all – be it Orla’s struggles as a new mother or Kate’s messy divorce. And whatever else happens in their lives, they can always look forward to their annual weekend away.
This year, they’re off to Lisbon: the perfect flat, the perfect view, the perfect itinerary. And what better way to kick things off in style than with the perfect night out?
But when Orla wakes up the next morning, Kate is gone. Brushed off by the police and with only a fuzzy memory of the night’s events, Orla is her friend’s only hope. As she frantically retraces their steps, Orla makes a series of shattering discoveries that threaten everything she holds dear. Because while Lisbon holds the secret of what happened that night, the truth may lie closer to home…

- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Return of the dumb heroine.
It could have been good if the author had a bit more respect for women, knew something about technology and police procedures, and knew when to use the “and I” construction properly. Don’t bother because there will be too many places where you will think in disbelief “are people really that stupid?”1 person found this helpful

Riveting couldn’t put it down - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Absolutely loved it. The ending was fantastic yet breath taking all the same time.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Wow, this author can write her tail off! This was a really good, and suspenseful thriller. I thoroughly enjoyed every second of this book, and can't wait to read the sequel which if I'm not mistaken is called "The Sound." I'll watch the Netflix original after I've finished the second book. This really, blew me away. Excellent read.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5When you think you know who it is, but that would be too obvious, then they tell you who it is, but then it’s not, and it ends up being you originally thought… This book had my head spinning in all the best ways!
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Slow burn with idiotic and incompetent cops who don’t do their jobs; and a protagonist who makes one bad decision after another! But it’s a fun ride if you like a slow burn whodunnit with twist and turns!
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5One of the best thrillers I have read or listened to in a long time! This one had it all. Highly highly recommend!
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Wow.wow.wow! I loved this story. Although the narrator has an accent that I’m not accustomed to she is a great performer. She brings the authors words and characters to life. The tension and mystery begs you to keep reading. Suspected the ending, then didn’t, then BAM! Wow!
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5Pretty predictable. And no satisfying wrap up closure. Easy read.
