About this audiobook

THE NEW SHORT STORY FROM KARIN SLAUGHTER AND LEE CHILD!

Jack Reacher and Will Trent

Twice the action.

Twice the drama.

Double the trouble.

Will Trent is undercover at Fort Knox. His assignment: to investigate a twenty-two-year-old murder.  His suspect's name: Jack Reacher.

Jack Reacher is in Fort Knox on his own mission: to bring down a dangerous criminal ring operating at the heart of America’s military.  Except now Will Trent is on the scene.

But there’s a bigger conspiracy at play – one that neither the special agent nor the ex-military cop could have anticipated. And the only option is for Jack Reacher and Will Trent to team up and play nicely. If they can…

took me less than 2 hours to finish it and I don’t know how to feel about it.

This is a mystery thriller and crime book basically by two authors I expected more from... slightly disappointed.

The ending was not at all what I want in a thriller and just in general it was a crime and investigation novella that is short and to the point.

Let me stop typing... 2.5/5⭐️ (would give 2 but I want to stay positive on Karins writing).

The ending of this book is not a story telling end. The tale just ends with an inconclusive and nebulous statement not much different from something like "and time will tell. A most frustrating and irritating ending to what was an engaging story. Someone forgot that all stories need a beginning, a middle, and an Ending.

Great story horrible narrators. I read the book before and loved it however hearing it through these narrators made the story lose its greatness.

I actually really liked the story.. I liked the beginning background and how the two characters got involved.. but what the hell was up with the ending? Are they going to write a book to go along with it? Otherwise the ending was stupid

FUN. DON'T READ THE NOVELS OF EITHER AUTHOR. STILL I SUPPOSED THAT A COLLABORATION BETWEEN THEM MIGHT BE FUN. AND, INDEED IT HAS BEEN. THANK YOU.

I liked the story but it ends abruptly leaving more questions and mysteries than when I started the book. I loved the few humorous bits snuck in by the authors here and there. It makes it more charming and enjoyable.

An interesting short story. I thought there were some comical lines mixed in and the writing was good. I’d be interested in reading more from both of these authors

You cannot go wrong with a book collaboration with two of the genres best authors and two of my favorite characters! I passed over this title since it was released on audiobook in 2019, just because it was only 2hrs long. I was wrong! Great story. Now I need to go back and listen to a few of my Jack Reacher books.

The title of this short story should be “Cleaning Out the Gold”. This is a quick listen about a truth that our government wouldn’t have wanted us as US citizens to know but seeing our monetary system is not based on Gold and hasn’t been for more than than 85 years it is just a good story.....

A fun short short story with two larger than life characters. The physical book gives the impression the story is longer than it actually is because there are two sneak peaks for two other novels in it. Was probably the whole point of this story. Book is 125 pages, but the actual story is 79. Good thing it's a library book.

Cleaning the Gold: A Jack Reacher and Will Trent Short Story was quite entertaining and kept my interest from beginning to end. It was rather short and I was surprised when turning the last page to see it had ended. I have not read Will Trent stories before but will look into checking him out. It's highly recommended, especially if you're a Reacher fan.

Cleaning the Gold is an excellent book. The ending came all of a sudden as though they said, "okay, the end. That's enough." Therefore only 3 1/2 stars were given to this book.

I loved the match up between these 2 characters. I am a huge Jack Reacher fan. I enjoyed his superior deductive skills matching up against Trent’s. I have never heard of Will Trent before but I must admit my interest is peaked. I need to know when the follow up story is coming out for Cleaning The Gold.

"Will Trent is undercover at Fort Knox. His assignment is to investigate a 22-year-old murder. His suspect's name: Jack Reacher."
This is a short story with two of my favorite characters. The premise is steeped in the rich history of Fort Knox and informs the reader of the continued security necessary there. The plot is succinct, precise and complicated as usual. This was a great, quick read for me on a lazy afternoon. I thoroughly enjoyed the collaboration. I hope there are more in the future.

I'd never read a Jack Reacher or Will Trent novel before so this was my introduction to both characters. This seems more like an advertising attempt than a proper short story. I would not recommend buying this for a 79 page story and two extended previews of other books. Get it from the library, as I did, and don't have high expectations.

Will Trent, a special agent with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, is working undercover . . . at Fort Knox. He’s investigating a cold case, the murder of a police officer.

Jack Reacher, former military cop, is working undercover . . . at Fort Knox. He’s investigating a criminal ring operating in the military.

But Jack is Will’s suspect. And when they discover a conspiracy, can they work together?

This unfolding short story, told primarily from Will Trent’s point of view, originally brings Will and Jack together for disparate purposes. But an unexpected discovery throws the two men into another investigation, one that might be more important than either case that brought them there in the first place. The characters are much as readers of either series would expect them to be; there’s minimal character development for the supporting characters, perhaps due to the length of the story.

The idea of bringing Will Trent and Jack Reacher together for a story is a marvelous idea, but fans of either are likely to be a bit disappointed with the telling of this tale. The excessive, unnecessary profanity does nothing to enhance the story. But, the fatal flaw is the abrupt, unresolved ending that leaves the reader flummoxed and floundering for answers.

Short novella featuring Lee Child's Jack Reacher and Karin Slaughter's Will Trent as the two characters overlap in a money laundering and blackmail scheme at the Federal Mint.
