Book 2 ups the ante in terms of the powers of the group, side characters involvement, and progression of the plot. I enjoyed book 2, it was tougher to listen to some of the scenes that Ash and Lana had to go through because of the emotion but that shows how well the story was developed. I fell for the guys more and for the other character (they steal the show in a good way!).

I hate the baddies in this series. We learn more about why Lana’s previous best friend is the way he is, and we kinda feel for him a little after we get to meet the evil that has negatively influenced him for so long. I am really happy with the ending in terms of him and Ash and can’t wait to see what happens in Book 3 regarding that plot line. I thought one of the highlights was Serenity and her men, the guys powering up/training, Lana meeting the good guys in the prison of sorts and everyone coming together in this first big battle. Unfortunately not everyone survives (casualties of war) but the group is gearing up for the pinnacle in book 3 and I am super intrigued how they are all going to be able to defeat this god.

I was shocked by some of the twists in this book but really loved how things were done and again, the new characters being introduced make this series even better. Don’t expect a ton of steam in this one based on where the various characters are, but they definitely make up for it in book 3! Yes, I have already starting listening since I NEEDED to know what happens after the ending of book 2 haha. I would give the story a solid 4.5/5 stars. Oh be ready for the snark and laughs, I have been pleasantly surprised by them so far in the first 2 books ❤️

In terms of the narration, same comments as book 1’s review. I dont necessarily like the narrators doing the opposite sex voices (again these audiobooks would have been 5 stars if it had been duet instead of dual narration) but the audio was still a good 4 stars from me. The emotion in this one was off the charts. So much anguish from Ash and Lana (Lana with losing someone close to her and Ash with constantly battling the baddie - cant even begin to try and spell his name hahaha).

Now on to finish book 3 and see how the crew can rally the other realms before it’s too late!!
