About this audiobook

Going home digs up bad memories, so it's something Bureau of Special Investigations agent Cooper Dayton tries to avoid. When he's guilted into a visit, Cooper brings along Oliver Park, his hot new werewolf partner, in the hopes the trip will help clarify their status as a couple . . . or not.

When Park's keen shifter nose uncovers a body in the yard and Cooper's father is the prime suspect, Cooper knows they're on their own. Familial involvement means no sanctioned investigation. They'll need to go rogue and solve the mystery quietly or risk seeing Cooper's dad put behind bars.

The case may be cold, but Park and Cooper's relationship heats up as they work. And yet if Cooper can't figure out what's going on between them outside of the bedroom, he'll lose someone he . . . Well, he can't quite put into words how he feels about Park. He knows one thing for sure: he's not ready to say goodbye, though with the real killer inching ever closer . . . he may not have a choice.

Contains mature themes.

While I didn't think the mystery in this was as compelling as the first one, everything else was a step up from the first. The more mature scenes felt more intimate, the world more real, hell even in the narrator did a better job than in the previous one.

I loved it! It was great. I want to start the next book right away! The narrator was brilliant.

Even better than the first book! It starts with Cooper not dealing with his issues well and taking it out on Oliver and being bent on sabotaging their tentative relationship. Then he is forced to confront his issues with his family and hometown, and it is handled so well. This author writes complicated human relationships and personalities well, constructing mysteries too. The book ends so abruptly, though, I would have liked more settling with various characters after the final events. The narrator improved from the first book, but it's still a bit hard to distinguish between characters in conversation at times.

Amazing story. Exciting until the end with a sweet love story

It kept me entertained enough to finish. But I struggle when characters that are almost 40 struggle with basic relationship communication. They acted more like college kids than grown men. I just expect more emotional maturity.

It’s been four months since Cooper and Park worked the case that brought them to together as work partners as well as romantic partners. The BSI and The Trust have moved forward with partnering humans with werewolves and Cooper and Park are negotiating being permanent partners both on and off the job. It all blends together to some extent…but of course it’s still a bit complicated and messy as they’re each dragging several well loaded suitcases, of doubt and personal turmoil behind them. Too further complicate things…Cooper now gets to introduce Park to his dysfunctional family. Things are actually lightened up a bit when the dead body arrives on the scene. This is another well done adventure with these two wonderful characters that all fans of the series are rooting for.
