About this audiobook

When a string of young queer men turn up dead in grisly murders, all signs point to the ex-boyfriend-but what should be an open-and-shut case is fraught with tension when BPD homicide detective Malcolm Khalaji joins up with a partner he never wanted. Rigid, ice-cold, and a stickler for the rules, Seong-Jae Yoon is a watchful presence whose obstinacy and unpredictability constantly remind Malcolm why he prefers to work alone. Seong-Jae may be stunningly attractive, a man who moves like a graceful, lethal bird of prey . . . but he's as impossible to decipher as this case.

And if Malcolm doesn't find the key to unravel both in time, another vulnerable young victim may end up dead.

Cole McCade

Cole McCade is a New Orleans-born Southern boy without the Southern accent, currently residing somewhere in Seattle. Not perfect, but good. Maybe too plain criminal case and the guys are a tad a bit booring, but I'm looking forward to the next book. I hope for better plot and more complex relationship between these two.

I loved this series and think it could earn 5⭐️ but I think the last 5-6 books could have been two or three. No need to devide them in my opinion.

Other than that I love the development during the series. Both for main and side characters.

And the narration is excellent! I don’t understand how he has his voice intact after doing Malcolm’s raspy voice for so long. But I love it!

Fantastic book! The way the characters got to know each other was very real and natural, like watching actual people, unlike so many other books. The mystery was also superb during the build up.

My only complaint is that the resolution was kind of abrupt, and I didn't really agree with some of the things said during and after those events. (As well as one detail earlier in the investigation.)

Had it not been for that then I would've praised this book as the best one there ever was, but as it stands it falls as an ordinary 5. Which honestly is kinda extraordinary in and of itself, since my ratings usually drops to a 4 when I have something to complain about. That is to say, almost always.

Looking forward to reading the continuation!
