This book is more than I expected. I expected it to be just a simple story, more romance than suspense, with main character being a bit flamboyant and clumsy. And surprisingly I was totally wrong.

Let's start with the characters. Tom is a professional model at the height of fame. However, if you think (as I initially thought) that he is a vain, uncomplicated and not very smart guy, you will be totally wrong. And thank god for that. He is a character of a complex personality and a past that strongly influences his current life decisions. Including the end of his relationship with Will. The whole story focuses on Tom, that's why his personality is more developed than Will’s, but I still have no impression that Will has not been properly developed. I also like that Tom is an ambiguous hero and that his views change over time.

As for the suspense part, it is pretty nice. I admit that the murderer turns out to be the person I suspected from the very beginning. To some extent, it disappointed me, but it was not a big problem for me after all. The intrigue is complicated enough to read the story with interest.

I know that some people feel that the romance idea is not fully developed. But I do not think so. Tom and Will were once in a relationship and their feelings seem still alive. I do not have any problems with believing in the depth of their feelings.

All in all, it is pretty good book with a complex main character.

It was very well done - the mystery, the atmosphere, but above all - brilliant Gary Furlong. His unhurried manner of reading suits the story to bits, just like “More heat than the sun” series.

This one fell a little flat for me. I wasn't entirely sold on the main character, and the relationship felt a lot like the one in the first book, only from the other lead's perspective. (The whole book felt very reminiscent of the first actually). The mystery was convoluted and a little wonky as well. Despite those flaws it did keep my interest and entertain me, so I'm okay still giving it 3 stars, and will read the next book.
