About this audiobook

It was immediate for Roman. In three thousand years, he'd never lost control of his emotions, or his heart. But the moment he laid eyes on Evelynne Farrow, he knew she was the woman who haunted his dreams. And everything changed.

Everything.

Evie Farrow has always loved a good vampire romance. In fact, she makes a living writing them. While sitting in a coffee shop and working on her next mega-hot book, Evie is approached by a tall, dark, and handsome man who could have been pulled directly from one of her novels.

Unbeknownst to her, Roman D'Angelo is exactly what he appears to be-a vampire, and not just any vampire, but the king of vampires.

Unfortunately, while Roman is both ancient and invulnerable, Evie is flesh and blood. Just as Roman decides that he and Evie have a date with destiny, for reasons of their own, an ancient god and a homicidal vampire take an equally strong interest in her.

Can Roman fight off the incredible forces that would have Evie as their own long enough to win her heart, or will destiny betray him and destroy everything he has ever dreamed of?

I found the premise to the story very intriguing and believe that it could have been more developed to truly earn 4 or 5 stars. I'm giving it not quite 4 stars. The heroine is too similar to Bella in Twilight and I found myself dissatisfied by this since I personally don't find Bella to be a compelling character. Certainly a very successful paranormal, fiction character - but not compelling...

I appreciated the rich imagination by the writer and the potential for all the many other characters introduced in this story is positively brimming with future possibilities.

One thing that plagues paranormal writers is overuse of the 'superlative' style/stance/tone. Meaning, everything is either the 'mostest, bestest, richest, strongest' and what I call, the 'believeability' factor of the story suffers and disengages a reader. This happens in Hollywood movie-making too. Granted, certain genres speak to the desire of a reader to 'escape', but it can also deter if consistently over the top and not tempered by some of the 'reality' us mere mortals live in.

I'd like to see this story re-worked alongside the author, by the hands of someone who has more than 2-3 decades under their belt, but 2-3 decades as a fiction writer under their belt... *hint-hint*

My most 'critical' reviews are given to the authors with the most 'as yet realized potential'. Heather is doing good, but I'd truly like to see her do 'GREAT'. I'll keep reading her to see where it goes as her imagination is absolutely outta control, and I really admire that. :O)

This book has 677 pages on the Nook. This novel is the first book in a new series but we see appearances of some of the characters from the Big Bad Wolf series. Heather's novel are well written with good character development that keeps you turning the page. This is going to be a great new paranormal series. If you haven't read any of the Big Bad Wolf books now is the time to start. Happy reading !

It was immediate for Roman. In three thousand years, he’d never lost control of his emotions, or his heart. But the moment he laid eyes on Evelynne Farrow, he knew she was the woman who haunted his dreams. And everything changed.

Unfortunately, while Roman is both ancient and invulnerable, Evie is flesh and blood. Just as Roman decides that he and Evie have a date with destiny, for reasons of their own, an ancient god and a homicidal vampire take an equally strong interest in her. To make things more complicated, there’s something very special about Evie. Something not quite human.

Can Roman fight off the incredible forces that would have Evie as their own long enough to win her heart, or will destiny betray him, and destroy everything he has ever dreamed of?

It took one entire chapter to explain irrelevant details. Steamy scenes left a lot to the imagination because they literally started then IMMEDIATELY ended. LOL. The very last chapter leaves you hanging after a mediocre "exchange of blood" scene. I feel like she could have done so much more with the book. Minor details don't need to be thoroughly explained.

Fun quick read. Reminded me of Richelle Mead's Storm Born series.
