You know how it goes: one side wins. The other side loses. One comes out victorious, and the other side has surrendered and is the loser and defeated. The losing side that surrendered took the easy way out. 

Or is it? What if surrender was actually the hard part? The better choice? What if the "defeated" were actually the victors?
