Per a report from FootballScoop, LSU football is expected to hire South Carolina Gamecocks defensive line coach Jimmy Lindsey to fill the same role. Lindsey has spent the last two years under Shane Beamer as the DL coach after stints as the defensive ends coach at Illinois and Western Kentucky. South Carolina had the tenth ranked defense in the SEC this past season and ranked 89th in all of college football.
Brian Kelly said earlier this offseason that he is looking for someone who can recruit and develop players to serve on the coaching staff. Lindsey oversaw the development of two of South Carolina's top defensive players over the last two years: DT Zacch Pickens and Jabari Ellis. Lindsey would fill the defensive line coach role that is vacant after Jamar Cain left to pursue an opportunity with the Denver Broncos.
