Description

LSU football announced that spring practice will begin just under a month away on March 9th leading up to the spring game on April 22 in Tiger Stadium. Now that we can officially look ahead to the preseason, it's time to address some of the biggest questions surrounding LSU football going into Brian Kelly's second season.
First, what does the hierarchy in the WR room look like? Malik Nabers had a breakout season in 2022 and emerged as Jayden Daniels' favorite target. Assuming he will be the WR1, which is probably a safe assumption, who is going to be the second go-to guy when Nabers inevitably gets double teamed? Kyren Lacy is going into his fourth year of college football and eased into his first year at LSU just shy of 300 receiving yards. Brian Thomas on the other hand made himself known in 2023, could he be poised for a Nabers-esque break out next season?
One of LSU football's biggest problem in 2022 was the special teams unit. We saw the issues arise against Florida State with two muffed punts, a blocked field goal, and a blocked extra point, but the blunders never improved. Whether it was dumb penalties on kick returns or a blocked kickoff in a brutal loss against Tennessee, special teams are a huge question mark and the most important question surrounding them are how will they improve next year?
