There are 20 million kids headed back to college this year, so double that number of parents navigating the empty nest journey. Know you are in good company. Navigating an empty nest is a solo journey that many of us take at the same time.2. Doing mindset work is important. Take that focus that has been devoted to your kids and shift to yourself, your relationship, your friendships and think about what is going to make you feel more whole now that your kids are gone.3. Try to have a plan in place in advance. Not a giant P plan, but a simple plan that is actionable. Like setting up a morning routine. Have something consistent that you will do everyday. Whatever works for you. Your brain needs certainty and consistency during this time.4. Think about the feelings of your younger children when your older ones start leaving for school. They are used to having their sibling around and this is a big change for them, too. Encourage your college age kids to call home to talk to their younger brothers and sisters to assure them that they are still part of their life.5. The best gift you can give your child when they go to college is take care of yourself. They want to know you are happy. Even if you aren’t, you can’t lay that on them when they are learning to navigate their new life.Allie can be found at all of the following:Instagram:https://www.instagram.com/alliehillcoaching/Facebook:https://www.facebook.com/AllieHillCoachingWebsite:Come talk to me here:Find me on my Website:https://www.lesleylmcshane.comFREE: Midlife in Motion ROADMAP I want more details on the MIDLIFE IN MOTION program:I don't need details, I want IN in the MIDLIFE IN MOTION program:Schedule a Kickstarter Call to get your nutrition and fitness on track!Connect with me on Instagram:Get Redesigning Midlife Weekly Updates:Find your community at the private Redesigning Midlife Facebook Group:You Deserve It Notebook: Goal Tracker, Planner, ...
