Description

We welcome back Dr. Jeff Matheson, co-founder of an all-natural migraine and headache centre, which promotes a non-narcotic approach to pain and headache management. Plus, Dr. Jeff Matheson is the co-founder and medical director of Pure Life Science. Dr. Jeff Matheson successfully practiced medicine in emergency departments across Canada and internationally, from Ontario, Newfoundland, and Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates. He later was appointed Medical Director of Med-EmergInc in 1998, a company dedicated to staffing underserved hospitals in Canada. Dr. Matheson has traveled extensively throughout Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and South East Asia and well as Oceania. According to Dr. Matheson, “traveling is the best education!” Dr. Matheson is an enthusiastic believer, as well as being immersed in other cultures. Similarly, if one does not listen to patients, one won’t hear what is necessary to understand the patient’s problem, i.e., the patient’s “culture.” It is with this ability to listen and empathize with the patients that Dr. Matheson allows an accurate diagnosis and develop sustainable solutions, optimizing health, and patient outcomes. If a solution cannot be determined, resources will be dedicated, through the involvement of alternative care specialists, ascertaining the best possible treatment for the patient by trying to treat causes, not just manage symptoms. In this episode, Dr. Matheson opens up the show diving deep into the cell membrane and how it separates the interior of cells from the outside environment. We are continually attacking our cell membranes with the “Stupid” American Diet. Dr. Matheson explains the connections between our cell membranes, receptors, oxygen, and omega-6. Plus, Dr. Matheson describes how vegetable oils are causing cancer and which good fats you should be eating, including his Pure Form Omega. Stay tuned as Dr. Matheson discloses how healthy cells can protect us from viruses. // E P I S O D E     S P O N S O R S  PureForm Omega Plant Based Oils (Best Alternative to Fish Oil): http://www.purelifescience.com Use ben4 for $4.00 off. [01:00] About the Cell Membrane The cell membrane is a biological membrane that separates the interior of all cells from the outside environment. We attack our cell membranes every single day with the food that we consume. Our food is leading us down the path of chronic disease. The Standard “stupid” American Diet has been imported to many countries around the world. Our membranes have two layers of lipids. The fatty acid composition determines how fluid, penetrable, and how the cell functions. No one talks about how the cell membrane functions. It’s a rapidly moving system. Your body is really good at distributing fats around. Good or bad fats take about 10 or 20 minutes to distribute throughout the body.   [07:40] The Job of Receptors Receptors are how cells will communicate with one another. Type 2 diabetes is insulin resistance. When cells are unhealthy, the receptors will be less active. Morbidly obese men have man boobs because their membranes are in poor health. A female can have a normal thyroid yet still feel like crap. Doctors are looking at health in the wrong way – they only test the blood to determine if someone is healthy or not. [10:55] Communication Between the Receptors and the Nucleus When we start altering the function of the receptor, we will begin to modify the gene expressions. Now, we will have changed responses, and the signals will get crossed. We won’t be able to react normally to environmental factors. We see this all the time in obese people; they have altered gene expression. People who are overweight don’t normally react to hormones. These people eat something, and they should feel full, but they don’t. If a cell has altered membranes, then it is asking for help. Inflammation is a call for help! [16:30] The Correlation Between Oxygen, Omega-6, and Our Cells Oxygen oxidizes things. Oxygen cannot sit freely in the
