Listener Question
Gloria asks:
“Hi there. I got the instructions for your sourdough starter through facebook; I have started a culture (several times now) but have some questions:
I have had great growth and bubbles for 3-4 days, then the next addition will end up watery with a “pinkish” color/cover on the top – what is it? is it harmful? what did I do wrong? (too low temp?)
when you say “cover loosely” what does this mean? the jar screw top not screwed on tight? a piece of saran wrap loosely placed over the top or secured tight with rubber band?
where do you find a constant 85 degrees? and how important is it? during the day, I can put the starter in the garage (my house is kept at 80 and I can’t find anywhere – cabinets, closets, etc, that maintains 85), but at night it drops into the 70’s – I live in mid-florida. Thanks for your help….”
Gloria is referring to the instructions found in our Sourdough eBook free sample chapter (which you can get, too, by going here).
