Homemade Barbecue Sauces Cookbook - Cataleya Smith

    INTRODUCTION

    Barbecue sauce

Barbecue sauce is a spicy sauce used as toppings that is usually eaten with barbecued food, such as pork, chicken, beef rib or pork. It can be used as a marinade, dripping sauce, flavoring sauce, condiment, or basting. It is easy to make, mostly with ingredients you already have in your pantry. It can be sweet, thick sauce or sour, thin and vinegary or fruity, spicy or smoky.  There are many variations of barbecue sauce, from the South Carolina-Style Mustard Sauce, Eastern North Carolina Vinegar Sauce, Kansas City-Style Sauce, Texas-Style Mop or Basting Sauce or Piedmont, Lexington-Style Dip or the northern Alabama White Sauce. The basic theme is that sweet, tangy and smoky altogether.

Let go off the store brought barbecue sauce and embrace a more satisfying way of making your own barbecue sauce. The idea of a homemade sauce is originality. I remember my first experience making my own sauce, I was so thrilled with the outcome. The taste and flavors was something I could not comprehend. Sauces are the essential flavor seasoning that gives your grilled food the life in it. It is very easy to make, with a combination of few ingredients, once the sauce is thicken, you can use immediately as baste for food, marinades etc. or refrigerate and use later.

When you make your own barbecue sauce, you are in control of the ingredients. You can blend the flavors as you desire to complement your kind of food. There are no special tricks to making your own homemade barbecue sauce. My only advice it to taste as you go. You have to maintain the right balance between heat and saltiness.

BACIS TOOLS FOR EFFECTIVE BARBECUE SAUCE

Mixing bowls: Mixing bowl is essential for a perfect bbq sauce. If you are an aspiring sauce master, what you need to consider during mixing the right size of your mixing bowl. Choose a bowl that can contain all the ingredient and handle your vigorous mixing without making a mess of your work face.

    ––––––––

Containers: containers such as roasting pans, bowls, baking dish, foil pans, reseal able plastic bags and disposable aluminum. It is best to use non-reactive pans or bowls, such as stainless steel, ceramic, glass or plastic. Enamels pans like aluminum or cast iron pans can sometimes react with acidic ingredients like lemon juice or vinegar.

Jars: Jars are made of a strong glass and it’s easy to know how much sauce that is still remaining in the jar. It’s great for preserving sauce for later use.

Measuring cups and spoons: To be a perfect sauce master, you will need accurate measurement of all your ingredients. A dash of this, a pinch of that
